North Carolina: A big state that could go blue....will be an Obama blowout
Just my prediction of course. What will be the new talking points by the Clinton team once North Carolina and Indiana vote and Obama is still comfortably ahead in every category that matters (pledged delegates, states won, popular vote)?

1. I hope North Carolina will vote Dem in the GE
but I don't think it's likely

I remember how high my hopes were when African American Gant (sp?) ran for Senator. He lost even though he was very well qualified.

2. Aw yes, but Jesse Helms won't be the Republican nominee for President
:)

The demographics in North Carolina are changing VERY quickly. People moving here from states like Ohio and New York have turned North Carolina bluer and bluer.

4. I think McCain will be a more formidable opponent in
North Carolina than Jesse Helms was.

And I hope that the new people in North Carolina are Dems. I was very disappointed when the transplants to Georgia were mainly Republicans.

8. You could be right
There's obviously a substantial military population here that I suspect will vote for McCain in large numbers. However, despite the "Carolina" in its name, North Carolina has much more in common with Virginia demographically than South Carolina.

Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I really think that Senator Obama could do well here in November.

3. Obama will do very well in the triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) and the universities
North Carolina has an above average amount of college students. Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, Davidson give lots of students for Obama to get votes.

7. Do you think that Elizabeth Dole will win re-election?
I think she's polling pretty well, but I would love to see her defeated.

12. My preferred candidate Jim Neal probably wouldn't be able to beat her
I'll be casting my vote for him in May, but I recognize the difficulties there will be in electing a gay man to the Senate from NC.

10. Don't need NEW talking points. If he can't win Ohio, he can't win. He can't win Ohio.
Meet the new point. Same as the old point.

14. When he has the delegate lead then, it won't matter.
He will simply be declared by his supporters to be the nominee. Then the superdelegates will affirm this.

15. Throw Virginia Into That Mix...Obama Will Redefine Swing States
Just because Clinton won the Texas primary SLIGHTLY is hardly an argument for overturning everything else. Especially because the caucuses - which measure grassroots organization and voter passion - have gone overwhlemingly for Obama before a general election that will ultimately depend on voter turnout.

17. We already are a fairly blue state:
Dem Governer, 7-6 Dem Congressman and Dem controlled State house and senate.

Even if we don't get the GE Blue, this is the year to get rid of Dole, and maybe increase our congress to 8-5 (Larry Kissell).
Plenty of opprotunity to make us about as Blue as a Red state can be!
