Nader Calls for Bush to Be Impeached

Nader Calls for Bush to Be Impeached
by Maura Kelly

CHICAGO - Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader called Tuesday for President Bush to be impeached for "deceiving the American people night after night after night" about U.S. involvement in Iraq.

"When you plunge our country into war on a platform of fabrications and deceptions, and you bring back thousands of American soldiers who are sick, injured or dead, and that war is unconstitutionally authorized to begin with, Mr. Bush's behavior qualifies for the high crimes and misdemeanor impeachment clause of the Constitution," the 2000 Green Party presidential nominee said to applause from about 200 students at Columbia College Chicago.

Nader said President Clinton was impeached for "far less of an offense."

"Lying under oath is not a trivial offense, but it cannot compare with deceiving the American people night after night after night on national television, staging untruths and rejecting the advice of his advisers," he said.

1. I call for Nader's head
It's too bad that neither calls will be answered.

2. Now while I doubt it will happen with a Repuke congress....
...It's still pathetic that it takes the supposed "GOP operative" Nader to point out the obvious. This fucking criminal bastard should have been impeached several times over already. Not only was Clinton impeached over a blow job, but even Nixon's offenses were NOTHING compared to what these bastards get away with on a daily basis.

Where's the Democratic "leadership" on this?

6. Where's the Democratic leadership, you ask?
In the minority, where it is completely powerless.

8. Tell that to Bob Dole & Newt Gingrich
They were in the minority in 93& 94, but it didn't stop them from fucking up some of Clinton's proposals. Health care, gays in the military, etc.

I hate the bastards, but I give them credit for being an effective opposition party. And it's pathetically sickening that our alleged leaders in Congress can't do the same, instead of voting to appease the unelected dictator time and time again.

19. True, but they are god aweful at vocal opposition
Part of the opposition party leadership's job is to make bitter partisan attacks on the the president. Gingrich did shit like making baseless accusation that 1 in 3 white house staffers use drugs. Daschle and Pilosi should be saying that Bush and the senior staff have told flat out LIES to the public about Iraq. But they don't, they sit there and criticize him for tax cuts and energy policies.

20. I can agree with that part
I too wish they'd drop the hammer more verbally. I don't think Daschle should be minority leader anymore, since he obviously has to think about getting re-elected more than he can think about leading our party.

18. Nader didn't screw up anything.
It was the Democrats who voted for Bush who lost it.

Kerry is self-destructing by constantly saying things he has to take back. Nader at least has a consistent message. You would do well to get Kerry to step down instead.

7. Of course Nader is correct
For deceiving the American people into this war Bush does deserve to be impeached. A few other brave politicians have said the same thing.

12. that's a lie
congress was already republican-controlled, thanks to bill clinton's milquetoast leadership

the democrats were able to regain the senate after the jeffords switch only because nader's voters helped the party get the seat in washington, putting the margin close enough for a switch of one member to change control

2002 the democrats lost it because they spinelessly caved to the GOP again and backed dumbya's war and ran lousy campiagns, thanks to mcaulliffe and the dlc

there's no rational way that anyone can blame all 3 branches of govt on nader

16. That could only happen if the 'Pukes nominated either Nader or Kerry.
....technically either of which is possible, depending on who you believe around here

21. How brave Nader is
now that he is an irrelevant asshole he calls for impeachment. Maybe he will hammer on this issue the same way he hammered on the "Bush-Gore Tweedledee-Tweedledum" stuff. This fool also thought Clinton should have been impeached if I'm not mistaken.
