Jim Hunt for VP.
Kerry/Hunt 04'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Hunt

He's a moderate to the left, slightly and from North Carolina who is much more popular than Edwards.

2. Isn't he a little old- how old is Hunt
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 11:09 PM by Prodemsouth
good idea - because I am sure he could add NC. I do a lot of work in NC and Hunt is unbeatable there. They said he would have won the Senate seat in NC that Dole has if he wanted it. Nearly took out Helms in 1984.

6. I don't know about that
Being a North Carolinian, there is a very large silent republican constituency that polls tend not to get, so the impression of Hunt being able to deliver NC could be very misleading.

But I must say that it is an interesting thought.

3. that wouldn't be nice to Edwards
although it's often those nobody really thinks about that end up being chosen and this is the first i heard of him as a vp choice. but i think Kerry should just go with Edwards instead of he is considering Jim Hunt from North Carolina.

5. As much as I like John Edwards - if Kerry really needs to carry NC which
he will Gov Hunt might be a better bet to do that. I know he is not as pretty as Edwards but our goal is to get Bush. I heard that Edwards might be able to help him get SC though- political junkies have been saying that SC might be getting tired of Republicans. And Edwards primary run was well recieved in that state- Big turnout for Dem primary.

8. South Carolina is really weird
Edited on Wed Apr-07-04 12:06 AM by mobuto
Its the most Republican state in the country, but its lost an insane number of jobs in the last few years, much of them as the textile industry has moved overseas. I don't think it'll go to Kerry regardless of whom he picks, there just are too many damn Republicans there, but if he emphasizes his military record and his opposition to Bush's trade policies, and if he picks a Southern populist as his running mate, I really think Democrats will sweep down-ticket races.

Inez Tenenbaum is still looking great for Senate, and I really believe that we could pick up the open 4th District if we put some effort into it. DeMint, the current occupant running for Senate, is incredibly unpopular with the rank-and-file and with the business interests that the Republicans depend upon for backing.

7. Mike Hunt for VP!!!

Graniteville -- This morning, Mike Hunt (Republican candidate for Sheriff
of Aiken County) indicated that he would be opening a campaign office at
221 Barnwell Avenue, NW, in downtown Aiken, South Carolina. Most recently,
this location housed the Aiken Office of U.S. Representative Lindsey Graham
before he successfully won his U.S. Senate race.
