3. CNN showed part of his speech...
He was great--calling to their attention that there is nothing conservative about the Bush administration and referring them to an article in today's Wall Street Journal (their Bible) that 60% of corporations paid no taxes from 1996 to 2000!

5. yeah, he was really nice in california though
he was at university of san diego and it was a big outside event kind of like this, probably bigger. there was a small group of republicans disrupting and when the rest booed kerry told them not to, and said he is glad they are here since they will learn something. i'm glad he told them off, as kindly as it was today though.

4. How many times have we heard the same inane speech from Dubya?
The networks never seem to tire of airing Dubya giving the same tired economic speech.

6. I was glad that the portion of the speech that they covered
had him calling out those repukes, it was great to hear him call them rude and that they have no manners. It at least goes to show that Kerry does not have a vetted audience like the *

11. Kerry saying election in November is about REAL CHOICES for America...
Will apparently introduce a balanced budget amendment tomorrow in the Senate. Will cut deficit in half in four years but not at the expense of the middle class.

He promises to "never cede to any other country or institution" our national security, and that "multilateralism is strength, not weakness."

Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 01:16 PM by galadrium
It was fun telling them to shut up, and taking away their stupid flip-flops. They had a bunch of signs saying "Why is bush so hated? Because he is a real christian" "future soldier for bush"
They were pathetic.

18. Ooooohhh... getting confrontational are we?
Way to go. I'm glad you snatched their flip-flops away. You should have told them that they were wasting perfectly good shoes and that you were going to mail them to barefoot children in Africa.

That would have caused them to explode.

21. Here is what Kerry should do
A few weeks ago I put together a whole list of Bush flip flops and they skyrocketed through the internet. Kerry should take this list and make copies and if this happens again, hand out the flip flop list and then read them to the crowd.

20. great! unlike the chimp, who hides from protestors like a cockroach
... hides from the light.

Kerry confronts them, while Bush hides and tries to corral them in orwellian "free speech zones".

Kerry should make some hay out of this. which way is more in keeping with traditional American values? engaging those who disagree, or hiding from them?

26. Watch the speech here; and, hey galadrium!
Edited on Tue Apr-06-04 05:32 PM by VolcanoJen
I was pretty far back, and I'm short anyway, and couldn't tell what was going on with those "Young Republicans" up front, as he kept calling them. Would you mind telling me a little more about what happened? Were they waving flip-flops around, or shouting, or what?

There's a link on this page to watch part of the speech:

http://www.wcpo.com/news/2004/local/04/06/kerry.html

On Edit: By the way, the insults hurled from the "Young Republicans" begins in the first quarter of the video above; they re-occur about halfway through his speech, which is when he stops to call them rude. What a pathetic display by these morans... and how the hell did they get up front??
