How many pledged delegates are still out there
Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 04:59 PM by Monty__
in the remaining states? Can Obama win mathematically before the convention? I'm sure I could do the math but I really don't have time (I'm not lazy, I swear).

CNN has:
Obama at 1,321 (pledged)
Clinton at 1,186 (pledged)

Obama at 1,520 (total)
Clinton at 1,424 (total)

So we're going to the convention then. Not really looking forward to this.

4. After Yesterday, about 770.
Neither Obama nor Hillary can reach 2025 on PD's alone. It will take the SuperD's to close the deal.

6. Ok....
So there are enough total delegates left that it can be decided before the convention....or do SD's make their intentions known a the convention?

8. The only way it could be done with the PD's is if someone won 85-90%
That won't happen. SuperD's make it official at the Convention, and can change anytime until then.

5. I think about 614.
With 48 still undecided from yesterday, 45 of those from Texas.

7. I show 557 in remaining states, not counting unassigned delegates from
the states that have already voted.

9. By my count, there are 611 pledged delegates left.
(Numbers added up from http://realclearpolitics.com/ )

So, I guess it's mathematically possible if one candidate or the other won the rest of the races by at least 70 or 80 percent. But for all intents and purposes, it's impossible.

10. Thanks everyone
I guess we can hope it goes like it did on the West Wing (without someone dying on election night).
