the nastier comments comments I've received (and read, for that matter), over the past few weeks by some very cocky assholes -- people I hope have learned a lesson about just how shitty it feels to have what they've been spewing, thrown right back in their faces.

Let's hope the usual suspects will stop shitting all over people who are down.

Payback is difficult to swallow, ha? I know!

Well, you should have thought about that in advance.

And this is not directed toward the nice group of Obama supporters who refused to act provocative.

The rest know who you are.

either looking down his nose at her, with that smug, self-satisfied smirk on his face, or writing things on his note pad, not looking at her and giving no sign of listening to her. Maybe he's writing his next book.

Hillary Clinton has been quite gracious to him in debates. She watches his face and lsitens to him when he speaks, only ccasionally makes a note on her notepad.

You Obamababies don't get it that opponents criticize each other during a campaign.

92. Obama boosters are the worst at the rot
I don't vote until May and at this point I'll be filpping a coin, they are similar, or simply voting against Obama's gay baiting and religionism.
But on this board the Obama people are by far the most nasty, off topic and frankly rude and brimming with all sorts of prejudices that they feel no need to hide. On other sites, it got so bad I left them forever. Actual calls to violence against gay people, which obviously is not Obama or even at all typical of his supporters, but let me tell you read one that says they are coming Jamaica style to throw acid in our faces and another saying they expect Obama to close gay businesses and if he does not it means his boosters are supposed to set them on fire, read one or two of those, along with a million less violent but equally smug ' you gays think Obama is going to pay for your drag parades with Federal funds, get real, he's a Christian man and he Hates depravity. Give up on your rights, and just hope to survive.'

Read a few of those Red, and the winner is clear. Oh, and one of the calls to violence was on Obama's own website and stayed for 12 hours after I placed phone calls to 3 different campaign offices and his digs in DC. Sorry, but this is how it has been.

I backed Kucinich, then mildly Edwards. Now I'm just a Democrat wondering what happened to the Party, revival bashings and votes for war.

Why don't you do us all a favor and explain what you mean by Open Govt. as a reason to vote Obama. I assume you refer to some rhetoric of Obama's, not his actions, as he voted a very strong and Excelon Yes on Dick Cheney's energy bill, made in secret meetings. Yes, for the Nukes!

103. Sorry, what I mean is that we all perceive things differently.
It's not my perception that some nutball posts on whatever site are any indication that you're correct in your perception that it's mostly Obama's supporters being assholes, that's all.

As for Open Government, I mean the vote on the bill for Open Government... Obama's and Clinton's votes in the Senate have been nearly identical. That's one of the few where they both voted, and they voted differently. He voted for more open govt, she voted against.

I'm well aware of his vote for Cheney's energy lobbyist pals' bill... and I don't like it. In fact, before I'd decided between Clinton and Obama, I harped about it often in this very forum.

I was a Kucinich supporter when this primary season started, and when I was here at the beginning it was my opinion based on my perspective (though I'd never try to present it as fact) that Clinton's supporters were far more arrogant.

38. I wouldn't either, of course.
As I said, I DID MY RESEARCH after first being pushed into the Clinton camp by that emotional response. I am not a moron, you know that, and I'd appreciate your not treating me like one.

I was an Edwards supporter until he dropped out, and the entire time, I've thought Obama's supporters were much nastier. As you say, there is no empiric evidence, because no one sits all day and counts threads. But I've spent a lot of time in here, barring the week here or there when I just couldn't take it and banned myself from GDP to clear my head.

OT: I had no idea until today that you were an Obama supporter. That really surprises me, I must say. I've found Obama supporters in general to be sort of overemotional and uninformed, and you are neither of those things. What makes you support him, may I ask?

:wtf:

I was an Edwards supporter after Kucinch's deal with Obama... but that has nothing to do with my not perceiving that either camp was more guilty of being obnoxious.

As for the reasons I support Obama... I waffled back and forth between he and Hillary for weeks, I wasn't pleased with his vote for Cheney's energy bill... and I was downright offended by his comments about Reagan... but what sealed it for me was his vote for Open Government, and her vote against - as well as his not being in the DLC, and her continued membership with that organization.

It's been part of the game they play to victimize themselves and label Obama suppoerters sexist, arrogant, you name it.

I would never intentionally try to offend anyone but I don't care who I offend on the other side right now because they pretend they're offended regardless of what we say. I'm going to say what I want to say about what I think about Hillary and her supporters. Because I've learned the response to me whether I'm diplomatic or not will be EXACTLY the same anyway. The response to you with the poster feigning insult over you calling her a "moron" when you didn't say anything of the sort is exactly what I mean.

I especially love the posters who metaphorically slap Obama supporters in the face in the SAME post where they demand we be respectful to Hillary people. I say WTF?? to that too.

75. Well, I think you must have misunderstood me then.
I said I would never *intentionally* try to offend. But I'm going to keep it true and call it how I see it without worrying about who thinks it's offensive or insulting. What I mean is I don't want to walk on eggshells anymore, when all I'm doing is saying my opinion. Everybody is so easily offended and insulted over nothing. And I've seen so many *feigned* insults here lately by clinton suppoerters that it makes it hard to care anymore if I'm accused of it. You (not you specifically, but in general) say something totally innocent and get accused by an "insulted" Clinton supporter for being sexist, or for calling them a moron, or whatever.

I appreciate your trying to elevate the discourse. I think it's admirable.

78. Indeed
Once you pick a candidate, all you can see is the vitrole on one side. But I reckon it's still both sides.

Just depends on who's winning.

And my first turn off re: Hillary was that inevitability thing you mention. Before anyone cast a vote we were told that she was the nominee, that no one had ever overcome such a frontrunner who was so far ahead, that anyone who was supporting someone else might as well just give up.

It was that initial smugness that turned me off straight away. Though I had no candidate at that time, I was less inclined to even give Hillary a look. I was not going to be assimilated. Resistance was not futile.

I think those who have the better perspective are those who don't have a dog in this race. I couldn't care less who wins this, as long as a Dem wins and the idiots who claim they can't vote for one or the other in the general get a clue.

So I was without a dog in the fight for a while... still no clear "winner" as for as moral high ground, from my viewpoint.

That line has been redrawn multiple times, by supporters from all sides.

101. Look here Showbiz,
you were there saying that not boosting Obama is hating him. Hyperbole was met with hyperbole. That amazes you? Hate? Do you know what it is? It is not voting for the other Democrat in a Primary.
I am shocked to hear you are 20 years into a career. You write like a petulent child.
Oh, and in showbiz, the public jobs are actually public, on camera. Some office full of like minds is far from living a life like that of an out actor or musician. Ever buy lube and sign an autograph at the same time? Yeah, I thought not.
See public, hate, self-esteem, all of these words have meanings. They are not terms of art. If you were public and out, you'd name your job and company and self right here in public. You are cloistered and semi-out. Protected by showbiz from the reality most gay people face. I speak because I know.
Good day.

109. Nuance and sarcasm
I guess they aren't subtleties you picked up. I don't believe not supporting Obama is hating him. But the OP's suggestion that any gay who could support Obama and not be upset/alarmed/etc re: McClurkin must have no self-esteem is hyperbole. My sarcastic response was that all gay people "must" hate Obama based on that ridiculous hyperbole.

I'm out. I'm out at work. I'm out to my family and friends. I hold hands with my partner at restaurants and he puts his arm around me as we walk down the street. I'm very, very comfortable with my public and private self. Thanks.

Lastly, I'm absolutely stomping my foot and creating a scene exactly because I want the OP to recognize HIS part in the problem he's complaining about. And based on the long lack of reply, I leave here having made my point.

114. writes3000, not one person in the world likes to hear
they need to work on their self confidence.

Fortunately, I have a lot of confidence, but if I didn't...I wouldn't like to hear people tell me the truth.

You know, the people who dismiss the McClurkin situation remind me of, for instance, the Log Cabin Republicans.

Talk about people who hate themselves deep down inside.

I've had discussions with a couple of Log Cabiners, and I've told them in frank terms that they have a certain type of emotional problem because of their accute self-hate. And emotional problems pertain to self esteem/self confidence/self love, etc. -- I'm not saying they're crazy.

And yea, they fly off the handle when I tell them. And I understand that.

I'm just trying to be honest because it helps people improve.

It's my view that Log Cabiners hate being gay, hate everything gay...and therefore don't have a problem hanging out with a Republican Party that would outlaw homosexuality if they could. It's their way of disassociating themselves with homosexuality.

I don't think you or other people who are giving Obama a free pass don't like being gay. But something's up writes3000. That's why a majority of gay people are so mad about this.

So, it's not a matter of you "deserving."

It's a matter of you and others being told the truth, which is that people who are confident don't let other people walk all over them.
