3. Maybe they crunched the numbers on CNN's exit polls ...
Rhode Island -

Male (43%) - 56% Obama, 43% Clinton
Female (57%) - 58% Clinton, 41% Obama

Ohio -

Male (41%) - 52% Obama, 47% Clinton
Female (59%) - 54% Clinton, 45% Obama

Texas -

Male (43%) - 52% Obama, 46% Clinton
Female (57%) - 53% Clinton, 46% Obama

----------------------
Now crunching the numbers ...
If the above exit poll numbers hold ...
Clinton wins RI with 53%
Clinton wins Ohio with 52%
Clinton wins Texas with 52%

A trifecta for Hillary

2. Why?
HRC is not making any dent in the delegate count.

Or can't you see that?

The fact is that she cannot overtake Obama.

5. Nope
Its the delegates that matter.

Hillary wont gain hardly any over Obama in todays primaries.

Remember how desperate the delegate count was for Hillary before Ohio and Texas?

Nothings really changed now except she has even fewer states to make up ground in.

13. Delegates don't count [/HRC campaign]
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 10:34 PM by CalGator
look at the acreage she is piling up tonight. :eyes:

These were supposed to be her firewalls? she may well win both states, but she isn't making a dent in the delegate count.

Though I was hoping he'd have this kind of wrapped up tonight, the math remains very much in Obama's favor.

10. they are desperate for Hillary to step down now because they know what is coming
the momentum is shifting.

if something sticks to him and sticks to him hard, he will drop in the polls and the supers will have a tough decision to make.

Think about Donna Brazile - she once was quoted as saying that if the super delegates decide this, she's quitting the party.

Tonight, she stated that the supers will have to make their decision on electability - ie they are going to see who resonated in the big states and the critical states like Ohio and Florida. That person is Hillary Clinton.

Certainly a good argument for supers to vote for Hillary.

14. Nope. Obama wins Vt and TX in both popular vote and caucus and ends the night
with more delegates won. Then Wyoming this weekend and Mississippi on Tuesday and Obama will be well ahead in pledged delegates and then 50 Super delegates will come out for him. Dem honchos will begin to tell Hillary to get out for the good of the party.

And what's more - his supporters (some of them) - are refusing to play anymore if he does dot win everything NOW.

19. NO, Democratic anxiety. Hillary can't get the nomination. She can
only sabotage our presumptive nominee, Barack Obama, whose delegate count cannot be overcome.

The Republicans know who the nominee is, and they're going to attack him for the next 6 weeks with Hillary hitting him as well.

So Obama STILL will be the nominee but with Hillary attempting to destroy him before he can define himself for a general election.

Does President McCain give you any anxiety?

21. Nope, Obama wins +10 delegates tonight,

He loses in Ohio, wins the primary in Texas, wins the caucus in Texas, has already won Vermont, and loses in RI... but in RI, instead of Hillary picking up 3 net, she only picks up 2 net (11-9).

I was a little worried before tonight that Obama would lose the primary vote in Texas, and only win the caucus and delegate counts... but not by much. But the thing about losing the primary vote is that it would allow Hillary to spin this as a big night for her (3 wins!!!), and gloss over the fact that she made NO PROGRESS on cutting into the delegate lead that Obama has. Now I'm confident that Obama will INCREASE his delegate lead tonight. That plus a Texas primary win and Texas caucus win... well, let's just say that in the next day or two, there will be some big announcements. About time too.

Not worried anymore.

23. THE MOMENTUM IS SHIFTING!!
By tomorrow, Obama's pledged delegate lead might be as low as 145 or so!

Only 40 more states, and Hillary has this thing wrapped up. Oh, wait....

but if Clinton wins 75% the super delegates remaining and 100% of PA she might overcome the gap she failed to make up for tonight

26. No. Min-Super Tuesday will be like it's big brother--Hillary thinking she won until she realizes
Obama gained more delegates yet again.

Poor Hillary hasn't had a single night in the entire campaign where she gained more delegates than Obama.
And Wyoming (12 delegates) and Mississippi (33 delegates) coming up in the next seven days, ready to give more delegates on Obama. Even when she thinks things are going great, she falls further and further and further behind.
