Since... Kerry has quoted the Bible....
does that mean that the republicans no longer have a monopoly on GOD.... What will happen if john Kerry is a man of prayer?
Are democrats not allowed to quote the Bible?
Will Robertson have to go back to god and ask if the game has changed?

What are your thoughts on this?
Can anyone think of an example of a time when the Bible has been used for poltics by the Bushies?
I can.... (list too long to publish here).

1. How long before some Repuke digs up the quote about "giving all
your wealth away"? (from the old testament)

The Repukes have said that Bush has every right to use 9/11 for political gain, so I say that Kerry can use the bible. Watch the Right screech about how scary it will be to have a religious fanatic as a (dem) President!

5. I think Kerry's use will scare the rightists away from quoting too
much. Too many social gospel statements by Jesus in the gospels plus the admonitions against divorce.

I think there is a high divorce rate among the christian right as well as sexual activity among their single adults. That is why they rail against teenage sex but not adult "fornication."

6. If you read Revelations carefully
Bush has fulfilled the prophesy of the anti-christ. The man is pure evil.

7. turn about is fair play
so let me get this straight, the GOPhers claim its not ok for a Dem to mention god or the bible during a speech, but the simian president can tout faith based initiatives to his heart's content? Not to mention every time he ends one of his spoon-feeding press conferences with "god bless America..." would similarly insert god into politics?

I agree these people are evil - but they're also so sure of their own righteousness that they don't see their own hypocrisy.

8. the dumb-ass quoted Isaiah when speechifying on Iraq
they're pissed because the Bible calls them out, and Jesus was a flaming librul.

Kerry has some nerve, doesn't he? Quouting the Bible, in a church! How offensive :P

9. Here's an example of Chimpy using the Bible inappropriately, imo
Bush used a Bible quote in relation to talking about solving the Middle East conflict in Israel. You'd wonder why since both sides don't use the Bible, but...

Snip:
When U.S. President George W. Bush revealed his long-awaited new Middle East policy at a White House news conference June 24, he chose to conclude his speech with a quote from the Bible's Old Testament.

Summarizing the current situation as "both an opportunity and a test for all parties in the Middle East: an opportunity to lay the foundations for future peace, a test to show who's serious about peace and who is not," the American President then emphasized the element of choice involved for Israelis and Palestinians alike, by quoting Deuteronomy 30:19.

"The choice here is stark and simple, the Bible says, 'I have set before you life and death, therefore choose life.' The time has arrived in this conflict to choose peace and hope and life," Bush said.

10. Kerry didn't say that Bush has "faith but no deeds" but drew a immediate
response from Bush's spokesperson. Hilarious:

"...criticize leaders who have "faith but has no deeds," prompting President Bush's spokesman to accuse Kerry of exploiting Scripture for a political attack"

Well, if the shoe fits...

I guess his monopoly on God is the only thing left. The "I am your war president" slogan has pretty much backfired.

11. God is a flip flopper
First he says one thing in the old testament then changes his mind in the new testament. Eye for an eye, changed to turn the other cheek...I say if Bush is truly a man of Christ, turn the other cheek Georgie. Hahahahahaha...the irony.
