1. problematic as it is - mccain
ONLY because I know so many republicans who would vote dem if and only if mccain was on the ticket. hell my marine corp mother in law would vote dem for the first time in her life if it was mccain on the ticket. Of course whether this is really a dem ticket is another question but I would rather a real rational normal republican was pres than bush who is not republican - he is way past that.

first choice for me is clark obviously.

4. Sorry...I'd be lying if I took this poll and you know
what happened to Bill Clinton when he lied.
This sounds like a push poll to me!

Re: McCain...my husband would like that too. But why do we need a Rep. when we can win the election with a Democrat? Who needs them.
"Yes", Mccain would bring in a lot of Reps. but more Nadeer and far left Liberals would be lost.

14. good points - I would just like to not worry for 8 months
and mccain would win a lot of untouchable repub states...midwestern and western states that vote straight repub but loved mccain more than bush.

but you are right. clark is the guy and who needs to compromise even more than we already are?

17. Irrelevant poll
Without Clark as a choice, I don't see what purpose it serves.

These polls don't have much purpose anyway, except reflect the opinions of what DU'ers think, and then only active DU'ers, and then only active DU'ers who choose to participate. So what's the point with this one? Except maybe to insult the Clark supporters.

22. i think this was in response to a request from another poll
which did include clark. the idea was he would win among Duers hands down and someone asked who would Du'ers go for if not clark hence this poll.

11. What about Ed Rendell...
Governor of Pennsylvania? He has been mentioned more than once and I think he would be an excellent choice. He is a moderate from an important swing state with a lot of electoral votes, which has been leaning Bush for the upcoming election. He is Jewish, so he would carry some of the "Lieberman" factor from the 2000 election (helping in Florida). We can win without the south, and losing Edwards or any other Senator who would be replaced with a Republican, would put us even further behind in the Congress.

18. Max Cleland
If presented right, he will appeal to males between 40-60 years old throughout the South and Mid-West, a 'key' demographic in this election.

How can he be left off? If they are looking for a GOvernor. I would think a guy who balanced a budget that was in shambles would be up their. The guy is an economic genius

The problem is that there are only 10 spaces in a poll.

... then why did exit polling of FL voters indicate that they preferred Edwards over Graham for VP by a 5:2 margin?

36. Because of a couple of reasons, such as people having short memories
and democratic primary voters by a huge margin not being the best judges of exactly what factors go into electability. These people got convinced that Kerry was the most electable, more than Edwards or Clark, basically because he won Iowa and New Hampshire. And that is insane logic.

Also, about a 5th of all Florida primary voters voted for Edwards FOR PRESIDENTIAL nominee in the Florida primry, and more would have had Kerry not still been the nominee.

how support would break down if Clark were not a choice.

Some of you guys seem so hypersensitive... Not everything is an insult to Wesley Clark.
