I read about this guy, and all I can do is shake my head in disbelief.

Senate aspirant sees place for prayer
BY LAURA KELLAMS

Posted on Saturday, March 20, 2004

BELLA VISTA

Andy Lee, the former Benton County sheriff hoping to win the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate, declared Friday that the U.S. Constitution should be amended to permit "government-led prayer."

(snip)

But Lee did say his proposal would only sanction Christian prayer. "I’m not going to ask for an amendment to pray to Allah," he said.

7. Tommy Robinson!
I'd forgotten about him. I lived in Arkansas up until the end of 1990, when I moved to Colorado. What's Tommy up to these days? The last I heard of him was his plan to put shotgun-armed deputies in the back rooms of random convenience stores around Pulaski County...

8. Farming
His congressional stint was largely unremarkable. I can't remember if he decided not to run for a second term for sure but that's what I think happened.

10. He now fancies himself a farmer
and is in court over his removal from his position at a hunting lodge.
He also owns a liquor store in Brinkley.

It seems everyone who lives in Arkansas wants to move to Colorado.
When do you plan to move back? Almost everyone I know who moves there, moves back here.

Good to hear from ya! Where did you live in AR?
Keep the faith!

11. I suppose he's more or less harmless that way.
I grew up in Pine Bluff. As to when I'm moving back, never. :) After almost fourteen years here in Colorado, I can't tolerate Arkansas summers any more. In Colorado summers, the temperature rarely gets above 95 or so, and the humidity usually hovers around 15 to 20 percent. I have to say I'll take that over 110 degrees and 99 percent humidity.

Besides, I can see the Rocky Mountains right out my office window here. :)

15. Right on
the summers are awful.

I grew up in LR.

The other poster was right about the congressional stuff. I suppose you heard that he wrote about 500 hot checks while in congress. He was a demo, but jumped ship for the repugs after a year or so. Yeah, what a shame.

Stay cool
It's gonna freeze down here tonight.

16. I'm an Arkansan, and I've barely heard of the guy.
Lincoln is essentially regarded as a shoo-in for a second term. She's very popular here.

9. Funny...
I could have sworn Christians do pray to Allah.

Some people betray their stupidity more easily than others.

12. I hope he gets the nomination so that the Democrat
can breeze to an EASY VICTORY. Even though there are a lot of dumb rednecks who would vote for this guy, I think most people would disagree with his extremism.

13. Republicans don't get the idea of seperation of church and state...
I love how their constitutional ammendment proposals all go against something in the bill of rights.

ex) 1st ammendment - free speech, free assembly, free press, free religion, speration of church and state.

28th ammendment - no flag burning

29th ammendment - no gay people getting married

30th ammanedment - forget that whole seperation of church and state thing.
