Obama Is Much More Likable as the Underdog
To me, Obama always seemed more attractive as the underdog and Clinton was a much more likable front runner. In the debates where he was the underdog, or was more closely tied with Clinton he was much more likable. In the debate after his win in Iowa and in last night's debate, he came off very smug to me.

Clinton is usually wonderful in these debates, but I think she did poorly last night. But at the same time, she seemed much more gracious than Obama who came off looking like he felt superior, didn't really have to go in depth on the issues, and sort of bragging. Whenever Clinton was talking, he had this really arrogant look on his face.

I liked it him better when he was the underdog and bumbled through the debates.

It's the zombie children from planet Barack Obama supporters who were more likeable when he was the underdog!

and I don't think he acted superior.

He did sound kind of arrogant when he said his speeches were good though.

One thing that pisses me of in the debates - the candidates get up and walk away at the end. WHY aren't their notes and doodlings immediately slapped up on camera for the entertainment of viewers?

Why? Why? WHY???slash???

9. I think he's looking more and more presidential every day
and I'm feeling more comfortable with him as a potential commander-in-chief. I don't see him as acting superior; he's just trying to assuage any voters' doubts about his competence, considering his youth and relative newness to the national political scene.

Just as I think GWB acts pompous.

I am getting really tired of the "uppity" racial accusation when anyone says he is pompous or arrogant.

I am a person of color too and I can tell you without a doubt that there are a lot of people of color that are pompous asses. (Including some of my relatives). Arrogance is not confined to White people only.

but I don't need to justify my feelings for Obama, for Clinton, for Edwards or for anyone else. And I would never ask you to justify your opinion either. I accept that some people like him, some people don't and the same goes for Clinton, Edwards, Biden, etc. I am free to express my opinions (last time I checked) andf I am not going to interrogate you or anyone else over their's. Have a nice evening.

18. this is why these debates are so fucking stupid
people literally don't give a shit about the issues its all about "he looked uppity" and "she was a witch".

for fucks sake.

the original poster liked it better when hillary was in the lead. he is angry at obama for taking that away from her. he is doing what psychologists call "projecting". you are projecting your feelings onto obama, and the results are that you feel he is arrogant.

Hillary's Reviews Are In: 'Standing Ovation,' 'Really Scored,' 'A Stronger Performance'
by Lindsay Levin
2/21/2008 10:31:02 PM

CNN's Campbell Brown notes a 'standing ovation' in response to Hillary's closing remarks.

CNN political analyst David Gergen - Hillary's last statement 'was the most effective moment she's had on television, I believe, since the New Hampshire primary… really scored on that.'

Politico's Ben Smith - 'Clinton's answer was a stronger performance.' "Clinton's answer was a stronger performance; Obama seems like he's about ready to get out of here."

CNN's Bill Schneider - Hillary 'just made an effective argument against John McCain.' "Clinton just made an effective argument against John McCain: Though the Arizona senator is a champion against wasteful spending, Clinton pointed to his support for the Bush tax cuts and the war in Iraq - both colossal expenditures unpopular with most Democrats."

NBC News' Chuck Todd - Hillary 'had a couple of very good moments on health care and the economy.' "Did she potentially win this debate on points; I think so; it was close but she had a couple of VERY good moments on health care and the economy that probably scored well in the various focus groups of undecided voters watching this debate."

New Republic's Michael Crowley - 'The subject of health care always brings out a formidable passion and policy fluency in Hillary.' "So much of the time politicians just seem to be going through the motions when debating the issues. But the subject of health care always brings out a formidable passion and policy fluency in Hillary. People can call her a phony for all kinds of reasons but it's clear she really gets and cares about this stuff."

ABC News' Rick Klein - Hillary 'sounds calm, in charge, deliberate.'

MyDD's Todd Beeton - 'Hillary Clinton just hit that closing response out of the park.' "Hillary Clinton just hit that closing response out of the park."

Clinton came off as argumentative and bullying. She only gave this faux smile when Obama would answer and would not look at him when she went on her rants.

It takes quite an ego to look yourself in the mirror and say, "Yes, yes. This is someone who could be the president of the United States, the self-styled leader of the free world."
