1. Only if you presume every supporter
of one candidate has claimed they won't vote.

That's a silly presumption.

5. That's a silly statement
What I assume is that half the peeople talkin' trash about the 'other candidate' these days will have to eat their words come November ..... or stay home.

Pretty simple .... and not silly.

18. Not every supporter of one candidate trashes the other
I can choose between Democrats without trashing them.

And I can vote for either one.

Some of the most egregious and prolific posters here, though...

I don't think intend to vote for any Democrat at all.

33. I agree entirely
So many of these so-called "supporters" are just disruptors here to sow dissent and hurt Dems.

32. well only one candidate will get the nomination
so presumably, only supporters of the other candidate will do what you say.

And if we presume - just for the sake of argument - that the board is split evenly between candidates (it's not, but just for argument..) then ALL the supporters of that candidate will have to stay home to fulfill your prediction.

10. Yep. You got it. Of course, there's always the "I'll vote for McCAIN before I vote for
(fill in name of "hated" candidate)" bunch. They crop up every so often. With a good FOOT STOMP too!

And then there's the "I'll write in (fill in any name from A for Al Gore to Z for Zoolander) rather than vote for (fill in name of "HATED" candidate!) gripers. There's a FLOUNCING and HUFFING-PUFFING quality to that crowd!

It's all just histronics from people who don't realize this is politics and not a contact sport.

19. Correct.

I have stated over and over that I will vote for Hillary, should she be the nominee... I just won't be all that enthusiastic about it. I have seen a number of posters who are Hillary supporters say they will write her name in the fall should she NOT be the nominee, and, sadly, I've seen some Obama supporters say they will stay home if he is not the nominee.

We must win the Presidency this fall.

....so those are the only ones that will have to make that choice.

3/4 of us will be enthusiastically voting for Obama in November.

7. Dunno about anyone else, but I can tell you very succinctly what my view is
I **never** had either of them in the top 10 of my choices for this go-round. My difficulty now is picking the one I dislike the least.

There's a high likelihood I will work for the Party nominee once named.

I will go into the voting booth this November and vote straight Democratic.

13. Hell no! By November we will all be one big happy family again like always!
This kind of fighting is normal. It is because everyone has such a great candidate that they just can not bear to give theirs up.

The Convention is where it all gets worked out. Trust me on this. I have seen a lot of conventions. Unless Karl Rove spikes the punch with PCP and sends in some of Nixon's old Cubans disguised as waiters to start riots, it will be cool.

17. or vote for a third, left leaning, party
I will not vote Republican, but I will not vote for Hillary if Obama wins pledged delegates and Hillary overturns the nomination with super delegates.

I understand that super delegates have the right to vote their delegate how they see fit, but I also have the right to vote for anyone I want in the general election, and hold my representative accountable if he votes against his constituency.

22. It's called ...
Voting your conscience. The only thing Gore ever said that pissed me off was when he stated that people who voted for Nadar should have voted for him.

No candidate should ever assume that I owe them my vote.

They must earn it.

We're not suppose to be the party of arrogance.

We're not suppose to be the party that has our candidate selected for us by the party elite. How can we call ourselves Democrats if we don't use the democratic process to select our nominee? In extreme candidate cases I understand, that is to say that if a person is running on the Democratic ticket that is way outside the party ideology, but Barack is not extreme by any stretch of the imagination.

When the primary process started I told myself that I would support the Democratic nominee even if it was not my first choice. Hillary was second to last on my list, but I said I would support her if she won, but it never crossed my mind that she might negate the voice of the every day person like myself.

If Hillary wins the nomination and loses the general, she has no one to blame but herself. Hillary didn't have to earn my vote for the general, but her actions have caused her to quite possibly lose it.

29. I am a Democrat
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 01:24 AM by Exilednight
I just don't believe that Hillary represent Democratic values. I loved Bill, but he's not Hillary.

Edit - Just to clarify, if Hillary does win the primary, I will not be on here saying anything negative about her.

I might not vote for her, but I will support other Democrats that are up for election in Congress.

34. Pssst...guess what. Obama doesn't, either.
I'm no fan of either one, frankly.

But regardless, I'll hold my nose and pull the (D) lever come November.

Why? Why this egregious sellout of my principles?

Because it makes fucking sense. The world works that way. I can vote for Anybody But McCain, or I can vote for some third-party to make myself feel warm and cuddly and all principled.

But guess what? There will NEVER be enough votes for a viable third-party candidate. But there will be just enough third-party voters to draw votes off Democrats...third-party voters who are likely good Democrats like yourself, who may be voting for principles, and that's fine n' dandy, it really is. But you also aiding and abetting the next GOP president...and handing the WH to "Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran" Boy.

It sucks, my friend, but that's the reality of the situation here. There has never been a more crucial time to hold your nose and vote a full Democratic ticket. There is that much at stake, really. There will be new Supreme Court justices appointed in the next presidency; if you vote third party, make sure to ask McCain to pick the ones from your short list.

I'm begging you, as a fellow Democrat...I'll PayPal you ten bucks to buy shots of Jack before you vote, if that's what it takes....but vote (D) in November.

I think Hillary will make the better president.

If she doesn't get the nomination, I will vote for Obama.

I still will think Hillary would have made the better President, but I'll vote for Obama very easily over McCain.

So what words do we have to eat?
