1. You ever see The Rat Pack Frenchie?
It was an HBO movie with Ray Liotta playing Frank, Don Cheadle as Sammy, Joe Mantegna as Deano and the guy who played Robert The Bruce in Braveheart as Lawford-it was great

A President Like My Father

By CAROLINE KENNEDY
Published: January 27, 2008

OVER the years, I’ve been deeply moved by the people who’ve told me they wished they could feel inspired and hopeful about America the way people did when my father was president. This sense is even more profound today. That is why I am supporting a presidential candidate in the Democratic primaries, Barack Obama.

12. Caroline has the right to decide that for herself.
God Bless her for the loss she suffered.

However, I was older than she was. I suffered a loss. It was heartfelt. It was deeply understood. She does not have the right to decide that for me.

Barack Obama is no John F. Kennnedy. I know that. People of my generation know that.

14. So I guess I have a right to my own opinion too, right?
Obama is not JFK. But I and the Kennedys that make a comparison are allowed!

In other words, Nobody told you to hop into this thread and piss on it.

BTW, Caroline has my respect.

17. If you expected this thread to go on with no one objecting to your
point of view, you were sadly mistaken.

I was there. I know what John Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy represented. Their words were inspiring, but so were their actions.

Your belief that Barack Obama in any way whatsoever compares to John Kennedy is highly offensive to me.

Caroline lost her father. My generation lost leaders.

26. No, the original post came out of your mouth.
And it is lacking in validity.

You want to support someone brilliant with soaring rhetoric. That is fine. Go straight ahead. But don't compare him to those of a generation forty years ago who not only were eloquent speakers, but also had the experience of actions backing up their words.

That is disingenuous.

8. Oscar winner, Best Song, 1960 - Sinatra sang it and this version, too.
From the movie, "A Hole in the Head," also with Edward G. Robinson as Sinatra's older brother (there's a couple of lookalikes). Anyway, Sinatra sang this version to back Jack, too. Check out the original on YouTube:

13. jesus f. kennedy betrayed frank sinatra BIG time and so did his brother bobby
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 11:00 AM by msongs
sinatra was a big jfk supporter and the kennedys led him on. they used his influence to win the state of Illinois, thru mob boss sam giancana (sp?), and after jfk was elected he spurned sinatra because sinatra was associated with "gangsters". gee whatta shock there johnny. And sinatra had been put in charge of the talent for the jfk inaugrual ball. then bobby went after the very gangster that helped kennedy get elected in the first place. when jfk came to palm springs, instead of staying at sinatra's place, he stayed with bing crosby, to avoid the association with sinatra and the "gang" element.

sinatra, who valued loyalty to friends, never forgave the serial adulterer kennedy.

since the kennedy fortune was largely made running bootleg booze in association with organized crime, the ironies abound.

jfk was no angel. not sure I'd want to be compared to him and his set of family values.

during the Kennedy administration, the Bobby Kennedy campaign, and the 60's while Martin Luther King spoke with such eloquence and acted with heroic convictions.

24. Kennedy, who valued REAL people as friends, never forgave the serial ass-kisser Sinatra
Edited on Sun Feb-17-08 11:17 AM by RFKin2008
When Kennedy passed him over in Palm Springs, you neglected to mention that Sinatra blew a gasket and took a frickin' *sledgehammer* (!!?!) to the brand new helipad he had just built to impress the President.

Sounds like somebody had anger management issues, and it sure as hell wasn't Jack.

Gimme a break already. We're all so sick of these empty, mean-spirited attacks on JFK and his entire family.

"Everyone is dissin' on Jack
Cause he had what all the rest lacked
Everyone wants to attack -- Jack
(That must mean) Jack was on the right track."

Anyhoo, great thread and photos, Frenchie...thanks!:)

It's the first Presidential campaign I can remember. It was pretty exciting around our house when he won.

Obama to JFK and in what ways.
