Hillary vows to fight for workers at Lordstown

http://www.salemnews.net/news/articles.asp?articleID=10073

By STEPHEN ORAVECZ, Special to the Salem News

LORDSTOWN — Holding up a pair of blue boxing gloves, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton told several hundred General Motors workers Thursday that she is fighting to rebuild America’s middle class.

“This is not only symbolizing Kelly Pavlik and his great success. I think it also says we need a fighter and a champion in the White House again for the American people,” Clinton said. Middleweight champion Pavlik is from Youngstown.

The gloves from the gym where Pavlik trains were from former state Sen. Harry Meshel, co-chair of her Mahoning Valley campaign. He said that was exactly the message he was hoping to hear from Clinton.

“She went hot and heavy. That’s the way she’s going to wake up the troops, wake up the unions and working people who need things.” Meshel said.

Other autoworkers agreed. Larry Steiner of Girard said he likes the idea she cares about the middle class, and Anthony Naples said, “This wasn’t a show. She came to talk to us about hospitalization, anything that will help the middle class.”

A day after her Democratic primary opponent Barack Obama gave a major economic policy speech at a General Motors plant in Wisconsin, Clinton counterpunched with one of her own in Lordstown.

4. But she said, “The big difference between us— speeches versus solutions.”
Clinton got in a few jabs at Obama, using her new line of attack:

In his address Wednesday, Obama called for 5 million green collar jobs and $60 million investment in country’s infrastructure. Clinton she made the same proposals months ago.

But she said, “The big difference between us— speeches versus solutions.”

6. The line that got the most applause,-“We are ending that once and for all
The line that got the most applause, however, addressed outsourcing of American jobs to foreign other countries.

“If you’re trying to take jobs away from Ohio, no more loopholes, and no more tax rewards,” she said. “We are ending that once and for all

7. GOMAMA!
Nice to see this especially with all the threads here at GD:P insisting that Hillary drop out now. She will not be led meekly to the bloody altar of Obama. She has fight in her yet.

8. Well since the Clintons played such a hand in tearing down the
middle class, the least they could do is try to build it up again.

9. By giving us the longest economic expansion in our history?
22 million jobs? Sustained rising wages for working folks for the first time since the 60's? What is Obama's economic record? Did the post office renaming bill create any jobs?
