Wes is looking pretty good right now - yes?

I had an (unexpected) 3+ day hospital stay, but from the looks of this board upon my return it looks as if the General is looking pretty damn (vice) Presidential to me!

I'm a bit behind in Clark news - can the "regulars" fill me in?

Hospitals, BTW, are without question the loudest places on Planet Earth.

1. DancingBear, I'm glad you survived the hospital
They are dangerous places.

Check your email. You may have a little something from Wes. :)

2. Well you didn't miss much
the last two days there has been a bunch of the old attacks on Clark that really steamed some of us up. Clark was in NY at a book signing event, see robbedvoter's report, and he just announced he will be campaiging for Kerry in OH, new thread.

Glad you are out and about DancingBear.

3. Just got an email from Wes today!
VERY VERY EXCITED! ABOUT THIS:

But we still need your help -- today, this week, this month, and through November -- to elect John Kerry this fall. Here are just a few things I’d ask you to do:

Join your local Kerry 2004 Meetup. Bring your knowledge and experience in grassroots organizing to the next Kerry 2004 Meetup on Thursday, March 25th. Your work through local Meetups played a critical role in our campaign, and they will be important to John Kerry’s victory this fall. We will win this election one community at a time, one vote at a time, and Meetups can really help.

Visit www.JohnKerry.com. Learn more about John Kerry, his stands on the issues, and how you can get more involved in his campaign.

Get involved with your local Democratic party. Help organize local outreach events and voter registration drives.

Reach out to friends and family. Talk to everyone you know about the importance of this fall’s election, and invite them to get involved with you.

Stay tuned for coming news about my future plans. I’m finalizing the details on these activities, and I’ll be telling you more about them in the next few weeks. We’ll need your help to take action at a local level and across the country, supporting John Kerry and Democrats everywhere in bringing a higher standard of leadership to America.

4. Wes is looking awful damn good right now
He's proving himself to be a top notch team player. Senator Kerry has to find a position in the administration for him. The General will be kicking bush's ass from now until the election regardless of his future. He has to be VP, SECDEF or SECSTATE.

6. Thanks everyone
As for hospitals, you know what they say:

A guy never forgets the first girl who ever shoved 30" of plastic tubing down his throat. :)

8. Glad your feeling better DancingBear!
I have spent too much time in hospitals with tubes in my throat and nausea upon coming out of drug induced comas :-( so I can really sympathise!

I see more and more support for the General here. It has always been strong, but the naysayers seem to have backed off a bit. I think they're mostly the same people who don't like Kerry, and going on the attack against the now certain nominee is pretty futile, on DU, at least.

11. No, he isn't.
Hopefully Kerry has too much integrity to consider the neo-con general. Give it up, the people have spoken. Clark's dismal showing in the primary speaks for itself. The last thing we need (or want) is to put that loser on the ticket with Kerry. Remember , the goal is to WIN in November. The Clark supporters here on DU are in no way typical of Democratic or Independent voters. Outside of DU (and Oklahoma) he has almost no support.

14. Nope!!
"If you look around the world, there's a lot of work to be done. And I'm very glad we've got the great team in office, men like Colin Powell, Don Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney, Condoleezza Rice, Paul O'Neill - people I know very well - our president George W. Bush. We need them there, because we've got some tough challenges ahead in Europe." -- Wes Clark

"Liberation is at hand. Liberation--the powerful balm that justifies painful sacrifice, erases lingering doubt, and reinforces bold actions. Already the scent of victory is in the air." -- Wes Clark

"As for the political leaders themselves, President Bush and Tony Blair should be proud of their resolve in the face of so much doubt." -- Wes Clark

the circular firing squad is alive and well.

You show me a Democrat who has never praised a Republican, and I'll show you someone who has never won an election.

18. The 'Hit Man' has arrived ....
Edited on Fri Mar-12-04 04:35 PM by Trajan
Drive-By dissing of our Fellow Democrats by insinuation ...

Yeah: .. I didnt like those comments by Wes, but given the conditions under which they were offered, we forgive Wes of such ebullient and effusive praise, even if misdirected and unjustified ...

Wesley Clark's 'progressive' bona fides were established by the strongly Democratic, NEW DEAL-GREAT SOCIETY philosophical positions he has espoused time after time again ....

These issues were put to bed long ago ...

Doesnt mean there isnt a wet blanket still lingering, seeking some optimism to snuff out ...

15. As good as he ever was
Campaigning for Kerry in swing states, made a great appearance in Kansas, and people loved the scorchers he threw at Bush on Late Edition (but maybe you knew that already).

Hope you are feeling better, despite the lovely folks who are willing to stomp on you and Wes.

17. Ah, the more things change...

Good to see the resident Chicken Littles are still here... :)

But, for the rest of us - GO, WES, GO !!!!

Thanks to all for the good thoughts, BTW - I should be fine after one more trip for some out-patient surgery in about 3 weeks or so.

By then, it should be about time to put up a big "Kerry/Clark '04" sign in the pasture!
