Two of my female friends have used the term "pimping out" in a non-sexual way in emails to me today
The first one said she was "pimping out" her dog to see who wanted to dog-sit in the next couple of weeks.

The second one said she was "pimping out" her relationship memories to win a contest for free wedding photos.

I just wanted to point that out to everyone. These women are political, but not so much that they are making any reference to the Shuster/Clinton dust-up.

THAT'S JUST HOW YOUNG PEOPLE TALK!!!! PIMPING OUT = SELLING!!!

Is this the kind of thought control we would have under a Hillary Clinton presidency? Is this how our media is going to be coerced for the next 4-8 years?

1. Did you write a stern letter to get them suspended from their jobs
and potentially fired? I hear that works.

4. The only time I usually hear the word "primping" is when
someone says so and so is pimping their book on such and such a show.

5. And shuck & jive was just a dance description.
:eyes:

I can understand being upset with racism.

What I do not understand is the lengths one goes to to justify sexism.

And "that just how young people talk", Schuster is 40 years old for crissakes.

6. It's different when a male commentator says it about a candidate's daughter on live TV.
I think the Clintons had every right to warn MSNBC about this inappropriate choice of words.

It is wrong to claim that Hillary is trying to use this for political advantage.

It is a side issue that takes attention away from the serious business of the election.

The idea that the Clintons are encouraging media attacks against them is just nuts.

8. so if he said "using" instead of "pimping" it would have been okay?
Edited on Tue Feb-12-08 12:23 PM by landonb16
your problem is the word, not the context. If he used using, this would not be an issue.

7. Everybody knows exactly what Shuster meant.
Some are pretending not to because they're petty and intentionally obtuse.

9. Yeah ... they also use the phrase, "That's gay." for
anything they don't like. That OK with all you people busy pimping out the Clintons?

10. Watched local news last night.
As opposed to the blowhards who manufacture news all day on the cable news networks. Not a peep about the issue. That being said, I'd say pimping is more commonly used then some people might think. Shuster shouldn't be tarred and feathered for the slip, but he should have given a hell of a lot better apology.

Back to local news. What they did cover was Hillary's losing the last few states, the issue with money and her campaign re-shuffle, and Obama's surge. No garbage, that's just what they're delivering to your average household across America.

11. Except Schuster said in the e-mails he was CRITICIZING Chelsea, not boasting
about her - and defended his right to criticize her (she wasn't available for interviews, the whore!)

13. The term has crossed into the mainstream and is as you say.
Shuster apologized and was suspended, but I do believe some want him hanged which is about as over-the-top, dare I say opportunistic? as it gets.
