New Clinton Campaign Manager in '99: HRC is Extremely Conservative
A little grist for the flame wars this morning. Enjoy!

---------------------------------------------------

"The biggest mistake of the American press is thinking they know her," says Maggie Williams, Clinton's former chief of staff and one of her closest friends. "You know, people think she's such a big lib. I think she's extremely conservative. I think she has more in common with people in upstate New York than in New York City, in a lot of ways." Williams calls Clinton "patriotic and practical. She thinks it's important to spend money on social programs, but she wants to know that they work."

Maybe so. But until she stands on her own politically, none of us can know. Morris says Hillary Clinton recognized long before her husband the effectiveness of a campaign based on bite-size "values" issues like school uniforms. She supports the death penalty, as the President does. She supports abortion rights, as he does, but she has not made the issue a priority as First Lady. For all her heated warnings about children, she has been ginger in using her influence to tilt the balance of power in their favor.

5. So in context, people in upstate NY are more practical and can get things done, compared to NYC?

12. The speaker explain what she meant at the time she said it - but win at any cost Obama folks
pretend she was saying that GOP policies were Hillary's policies

I have given on expecting any crap being stopped by a sense of shame - at least not for some Obama posters.

whether or not Hillary has ever shown or promoted the conservative position in a social policy including taxation -

but at least it is a logical discussion.

8. He was one of the Clintons' political gurus
If he hadn't got caught sucking the toes of a prostitute, he'd probably still be a part of the inner circle.

10. Both actually...
"On August 29, 1996, Morris resigned from the Clinton campaign after reports surfaced that he had been involved with a prostitute named Sherry Rowlands. A tabloid newspaper had obtained and published a set of photographs of Morris and Rowlands on a Washington, D.C., hotel balcony. Accompanying the photo layout was Rowlands' story of the casual affair, including the revelation that Morris's favorite sexual fetish was toe-sucking.<4> The article also revealed that Morris had allowed Rowlands to listen in on phone calls with the President, and had given her a copy of a campaign speech before it was delivered."

-----

One thing I think we can both agree on, at least, is that Morris is....let's just say unsavory.
