*****Breaking CNN/Fox: Clinton campaign manager resigns
Edited on Sun Feb-10-08 05:01 PM by grantcart
Patty Doyle resign Ms. Williams takes over 1:22 PDT

CNN:
(CNN) — Former Hillary Clinton chief of staff Maggie Williams will take over as campaign manager, Clinton staffers were told today. Current campaign manager and longtime friend Patti Solis Doyle will assume the role of senior adviser.

The switch has been rumored for more than a month – ever since Election Day in New Hampshire, when it was revealed that Williams would be joining the campaign in the wake of Clinton’s loss in the Iowa caucuses. At the time, Solis Doyle was urged to remain on board.

Williams served as Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff during Bill Clinton’s first term.

"This week Maggie will begin to assume the duties of campaign manager. I will serve as a senior adviser to Hillary and the campaign and travel with Hillary from time to time on the road. Maggie is a remarkable person and I am confident that she will do a fabulous job.

Although I will continue to see you all at headquarters, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank each of you for your dedication, excellence, and passion over the last year.

You are the best campaign staff in the history of Presidential politics and I am grateful to each of you for your hard work and friendship"

Do you Obamabots ever tell the truth?

she was campaign manager, now she isnt. And the news comes one day after a huge day for her opponent.
You know how anyone would spin this news, including your candidate. In fact, that's their defense. They can say, "we know how this looks, it's just time for a change."
This better work, because as of 9 pm Eastern, Tuesday night, she will no longer be the frontrunner for the nomination.

28. First Hillary is loaning money to her campaign, now a major staff reshuffle,
This looks like a campaign that is reeling, and no wonder. Hillary's strategy from day one was to hit first and hit hard, have the largest money chest and an air of inevitability. She and her campaign figured that they would strike a series of hard blows and knock everybody from the race by now.

Instead, Obama not only stood firm, but has pulled ahead, has a well oiled money machine, while Hillary's scrambling for dollars. I really don't think that she had a Plan B and is having to put together one on the fly. Sadly, I think that part of that Plan B involves staying close enough to Obama that come convention time she can "persuade" enough super delegates to vote for her that it will get her the nomination in a thoroughly undemocratic manner.

However if she keeps getting hammered by Obama, she just might not make it to the convention.

68. HORRIBLE timing imo
This was a long time coming. They should've shuffled her out after the NH win. Now, if Obama takes Maine, the story will be, "Obama gains momentum, Clinton fires campaign manager amid confusion" instead of, "Clinton wins; in dynamic shift, reorganizes campaign"

Someone fucked that up big time.

77. Yeah.
That's strange, too. Because Bill has been there since Friday.
But, even after 2 days in their state, they didn't get what they wanted.

There's not enough days left for them to spend any time in Virginia or Maryland to help them on Tuesday either.

That's 2 more losses they will have to endure.
And then DC, of course.

75. From Chicago? Brother is an alderman there?
According to wiki

"Solis Doyle is the youngest child of six siblings. Her parents, Santiago and Alejandrina Solis, were originally illegal aliens from Monterrey, Mexico (he was deported twice), and she grew up in the Chicago area where she attended Northwestern University. Her oldest brother Daniel Solis is Chicago alderman for the 25th ward.<3> She entered politics working on Richard M. Daley's campaign for Mayor of Chicago. Later she went with David Wilhelm (Bill Clinton's campaign manager) from Chicago to Little Rock, where she became Hillary Rodham Clinton's assistant. She is executive director of HillPac and ran Clinton's campaign for the United States Senate election in New York, 2000. She is married to Jim Doyle, a Harvard Law School graduate."

78. But Williams worked for The Torch?
From wiki

"Following Clinton's win in the New Hampshire primary in January 2008, Williams was brought onto the Clinton campaign staff as a senior adviser. On February 10, 2008, she replaced Patti Solis Doyle as the campaign's manager.<1>

Since 2000, Williams served as the President of Fenton Communications. In this position, she became the highest ranked black woman in an American top-50 public relations firm. Previously, Williams served as a communications consultant in Paris after being the Chief of Staff for Hillary Clinton during her first term as First Lady of the United States. Prior to this, she was employed by the Children's Defense Fund and Senator Robert Torricelli.<2>"

76. This is much like a Clinton presidency would be...
people fired after every little bump in the road. This is a constant you can see from her past record.

Micromanagers are incapable of empowering employees by inspiring confidence. They attempt to inspire by fear, and thus their organizations inevitably fall apart.

A Clinton presidency would be pure pandemonium, and it would prevent her from getting anything significant done. It doesn't matter how smart someone is (and she is very, very smart).

79. Oh my goodness me
Oh my goodness me, you have no idea whatsoever the kind of dirt that the Clintons are about to pull in Ohio/TX in order to win the nomination. The political equivalent of what is about to come Obama's way would be the equivalent of a massive USSR first strike on the U.S. or vice versa. Can you say N-U-C-L-E-A-R?

81. The one she needs to lose is Terry McCauliffe
He was horrid as DNC head. Look back at 2002 & 2004: there wasn't a close race we couldn't find a way to lose with him at the helm.
