Clinton or Obama: who will fight for our votes? It's 11/05/08. Rethug chicanery
in Ohio, Florida - everywhere possible.

I want to know: which one of our remaining choices will FIGHT for our votes? Who is more likely to fold up the tent? Who's going to fight the toughest goddam fight of their lifetimes to get the Rethugs out of office?

Because, at the end of the day - it's not just who votes. It's who counts the votes. And who is willing to FIGHT for those votes.

Tell me what you think. And WHY.

1. We will have to fight for our votes. Should the campaigns provide support? Of course.
When it comes down to it, if we are not very, very serious about getting out the vote; combating disenfranchisement in any form; and going en masse to observe the casting and counting of votes then we do not have a chance for a truly free and fair election.

The Obama campaign is already addressing the issue. There is a link to the "National Voter Protection Center" on their website - the center is their own campaign structure.

3. Not the guy who told Fla voters: "I'm disappointed that you don't count, but them's
the breaks" of told the majority voters in Nevada: "Screw you! I got more delegates!"
I don't see all that much respect for voters there

4. I think this is something we SERIOUSLY need to consider.
Who will offer more than promises to prepare for it? Who will not take it lying down?

5. Believe me: it was one of the main criteria in my picking a candidate
Their agenda is not all that different, but the fight for our votes - I see it as a high probability.

7. Oh, Clinton will fight.... for herself
James Carville, of course, tipped off the Bush campaign in 2004 about K/E's plan to contest Ohio. McAuliffe apparently would not line up behind any such contest, leaving the campaign out in the cold. It is my contention that these moves, both from Clinton people, were done in order to keep the White House available for Hillary. If true, it demonstrates that Clinton's people won't fight for voters for the voters' sake, but will do pretty much anything to get what THEY want.

Even if that isn't true, Hillary's campaign has shown throughout this cycle that it will game the system and change the rules to benefit Hillary, between the mess in FL and MI, the lawsuit in NV, and the rumors about superdelegate "coronations."

So, yes, Hillary Clinton will fight with her life to get elected, but not for the sake of the voters. For the sake of Hillary Clinton. I wouldn't put it past her campaign to try its own hand at election "chicanery."

I am not familiar with Obama's history on this issue and cannot speak for what he would do or why he would do it.

9. We know she will FIGHT. And we will all win.
And since we know the Rethugs won't go gently into that good night, I want to make sure we have someone there who will take it to them - and stay in it to win it.
