Indies can't vote in the Louisiana primary.
I didn't know that.

I wonder if it will have an effect.

Adam Richards believes America is way overdue for a change in leadership.

That's why he had long-been excited about today's presidential preference primary. But those feelings recently changed when the 28-year-old registered independent learned he couldn't participate in the closed primary election.

"This is the first year I have paid very close attention to all candidates, even the ones that major news outlets ignore and sometimes remove from their news stories," said Richards, of Bossier City. "I was very excited about the primary and now I find out that I will be left out. I feel like my opinion of where the state needs to go is not being heard because I'm not allowed to vote."

Louisiana's presidential preference primary is a closed primary, meaning voters can only cast ballots for candidates in their respective parties. Voters who are registered in parties other than Republican and Democrat or who are independents are ineligible to vote.

2. Louisiana's a wild card in every respect.
Last night CNN predicted that only 15% of those registered might vote this time. Their man on the street interviews showed absolutely no interest in the primary. So, we'll see.
