Obama leads Super Tuesday delegates race by 2
There still remains 91 delegates that have not been assigned, but so far Obama is winning.

Obama 796
Clinton 794

Obama had the lead among delegates going into Super Tuesday, so it appears that he has padded that lead, albeit by a very small margin. But with favorable states coming up, and the vast majority of "super-delegates" still uncommitted, it looks very good that Obama may have a delegate lead of 100 or so after February.

I'm sure once "super-delegates" take that into account, not to mention the fact that by the end of February Obama will have won a dozen or more primaries and caucuses, it may be curtains for the Clinton campaign. I just can't imagine the "super-delegates" voting for the candidate that lost the majority of states AND the popular vote.

2. After February Obama will be able to say that he leads in the...

...popular vote.

So...

Obama will be ahead in assigned delegates.

Obama will be ahead in states won.

Obama will be ahead in the popular vote.

Tell me who's winning this thing again? Does anyone honestly think that "super-delegates" will move to Clinton in those circumstances? Remember that the vast majority of them haven't decided yet. Hillary is in danger of losing the "super-delegates" she has now. They are not obligated to stay with her, you know.

I think Clinton supporters are putting WAY too much faith in the "super-delegate." I can't imagine any scenerio where Obama wins assigned delegates, states and the popular vote, but loses the contest because "super-delegates" throw their support to Clinton.

14. Can you imagine being the politician reversing pledged delegates?

4. I agree - if Hillary loses the total National popular vote from all contests she is toast
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 11:56 PM by papau
And Obama is - for this day until he flip/flops - in favor of the nomination going to the person with the most votes nationwide! And that sound fine with me.

The clip of Obama saying this was shown on Hardball - Obama was saying that super delegates should not count and the winner of the most elected delegates, or most states, or of the total popular vote, should get the nomination.“My strong belief is that if we end up with the most states and the most pledged delegates from the most voters in the country, that it would be problematic for the political insiders to overturn the judgment of the voters.”

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/02/08/politics/fromtheroad/entry3809478.shtml

It appeared he was confident he would win all 3 titles - indeed for the first time - if he sticks with the popular vote idea - I could see 99.99% of the Social Security crowd moving to Obama if Hillary is not the nominee. Speaking to folks tonight the super delegate folks were willing to cave if the change is to total popular vote.

12. Wishful thinking...most sources show it neck and neck in delegates
Not a 100+ lead for Clinton. Is this the same NYT that has endorsed Clinton and trashes Obama damn near every week? No wonder their numbers are so off from everyone else.
