Discussion: So what do you think would happen...
...as a result of the Hillary earning the nomination out of a brokered convention that Obama entered with a slim lead? What would be the effect on the general election, the Democratic nomination process and the party in general as part of the fallout?

4. Do you think it would be enough to...
...cause Dems to leave the party? Would enough leave to start another one? Would it result in removal of the super delegate system? How would it affect Obama's political fortunes?

5. I think that the only "dems" that would leave the party over that....
Are not really Democrats. The people that support Obama only, not the party, would obviously be upset and probably wouldn't vote. But then again, they don't normally vote anyway, so it's a wash I suppose.

2. the party will fall apart, half will stay home, and we'll lose across the board
Senate, gone. House, gone. Presidency, still gone.

3. There would be some criticism but I don't think choosing Hillary

when Obama had only a slim lead would would be a wholly uncalled for decision. The opposite is true as well.

A decision has to be made. It's a tough decision. It's not necessarily going to be a popular decision. But it has to be made one way or the other.

BTW rooting for Obama.

6. No question, if either one of them comes in with a slim lead and
we end up listening outside the doors of the smoke filled room, and the one with the lead doesn't get the nod,it will mean the election and the Supreme Court and peace and economic security and a whole lot of other things. So these folks better think carefully about that they will be risking, assuming any of them really care.

7. Hillary would lose the general. Less than half of half will not give her a victory
Roughly half of America are Democrats
Less than half of them support Hillary.

Who really thinks she'd win with 23% popular support.

If she wheels and deals her way into the nomination when most of the voters say they want Obama, I will leave. I also think that the move will disenfranchise all of the youth vote that has gotten behind Obama and involved in politics for the first time in their lives.
