The backlash cometh
Something happened to the Obama campaign beginning about a week ago.

Historians could probably study the Dean campaign just before it came crashing down to earth to get an idea. Dean's fall wasn't about the scream, the scream happened at the moment the bubble burst.

Bubbles burst with or without screams. Sometimes they burst when people see 24 hour coverage of a candidate on stage with famous movie stars and women's talk show hosts and MSM pundits making ridiculous comparisons between genuine cultural heroes and regular pandering inexperienced and probably slightly corrupt politicians that weren't war heroes or civil rights heroes.

33. Rightttt - what did Hil pick up in her "home state?" 60%?
What did Obama pick up in his - 80% I think. She didn't even have a huge win in her own state - I was part of that, I'm proud to say. I'm not impressed with her at all as my senator, I'd rate her average. Apparently, a lot of NY'ers agreed with me.

13. The only people who didn't know Kerry was going to win Iowa
were Deaniacs and the press. Everyone else, all the seasoned Iowa politicos and the DC ones knew that Kerry was going to win. There was no burst it was a slow leak.

US News had a great long article on it in 2005 ( I think) I will try to find it.

17. Our Cult is much more Culty than Dean's Cult was.
We're a far more organized Cult. We're a regular Jim Jones/Manson Freakin' Family out here. Dean was more Heaven's Gate. Part of our Magic Cult Powers is that you have NO IDEA what we're going to do next. }(

"Bubbles burst with or without screams." Are you sure you're even a Democrat?

28. Media are starting to question his 'fans' and his status
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 03:22 PM by sofeisty
From coast to coast in the US to England and Germany, the media are starting to examine the Obamania movement more closely. The "C" word has been used in increasingly more stories about him. Not good for his campaign, IMO.

The cadre of corporate media will have to come up with many more new wrinkles that no one has been thinking about for them to be successful.

35. What are they asking them?
I'd love to be questioned by the media - I have a feeling most Obama supporters would. His status? What type of status? I'm a supporter, not a fan. The fact that he's attracting more and more people to his campaign is BAD? Could you 'splain that one a little better - and the status one, too?

Welcome to DU, btw.
