6. That is puke-worthy.
"Did that make more impact on you than if I had talked about his health care plan or his stance on the environment?" she asked.

11. And that never happens here?
For the last two days, people have been reposting the same thread over and over, probably to keep them on the first page or two. And (putting on flame-proof suit) the majority of these reposts have been from Obama supports, such as the thread "What Barack Brought to New Orleans."

I disagree that MOST of them are Obama supporters, because there's a group of 9 HRC supporters that constantly re-write/re-word the same crap and spam all day. However - I don't like it from any side, and have spoken out on it before. Make your post, keep it bumped. Don't harass the board with multiple threads on the same thing.

9. Marshall Ganz is an impressive person.
The idea behind the personal narratives is to reclaim "values" politics from the Republican Party, said Marshall Ganz, a one-time labor organizer for Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers who developed "Camp Obama" training sessions for volunteers. (from the link above)

link: http://www.soapblox.net/belowboston/showDiary.do?diaryId=1486

"We are a movement that builds and not destroys," said Cesar Chavez. As an organizer, his life's work was to help ordinary people create a better life for themselves through unionizing, non-violent protest, and political action.

Aiding in this struggle was Marshall Ganz. He worked with Chavez for over sixteen years organizing with the United Farm Workers. Forty years ago he organized a Get Out the Vote campaign for Robert F. Kennedy during the California primary. Through this effort, he was able to help Kennedy win the states highly contested primary.

He sees today a clear comparison between Robert F. Kennedy and Barack Obama...

27. Must be awkward for Mr. Ganz, then, that
the UFW, RFK Jr. and Cesar Chavez's grandson have all endorsed Hillary Rodham Clinton.

12. This is very cult-like.
A teacher takes time usually spent on grading her student's papers to devote to Obama? Everything is so over the top. I am not surprised, but am dismayed.

Sounds a lot like the methods used by pro-lifers. Truth and facts take a back seat to the personal testimonies of women recruited to talk about their "conversions".

22. That's standard for any campaign.
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 04:37 AM by Radical Activist
Kerry told his volunteers not to get into policy discussions too.

The average volunteer isn't going to know what issue the person they're talking to will want to know about most, and usually doesn't know the details of where the candidate stands on every single issue. Telling volunteers to not get into deep policy discussions ensures the candidate's positions on the issues aren't misrepresented.

I've worked many campaigns and have heard the same instructions many times before. I'm willing to bet Clinton volunteers are told something similar or else are given very strict talking points about what issues they're allowed to discuss.

32. seeing the way Clinton supporters are here, I imagine "WHY I believe in Obama" is germane, not weird
Certainly you must be aware that people relate better to "I decided on Obama, and here's why "
Over
"Clinton is inevitable " or

"She'll keep us in Iraq indefinitely, that's what you want, isn't it?"

But members of the Borg Collective often have trouble with personal stories.

"You will be assimulated"
