If McCain would drop out of the race, who would step in?
Who are the "other guys", waiting for their chance to "save the party from destruction"?

1. Now why the hell would McCain drop out?
Doesn't seem sane for the guy in the lead to drop out.

4. Drop dead, maybe. Drop out, nope!
Not that I wish John anything but the best of health, but let's face facts--his mortality will be an issue, and we might as well start bringing it up early and often.

5. "If" he dropped out
it´s a hypothetical question, like

If Hillary loses in 2008, will she run again in 2012?
If Obama wins, who will be his running mate?
If Al Gore finally steps in, will you vote for him?

6. Does that mean that the Republican Party now only has
two alternatives, McCain or Hucklebee?

9. Is there still a "window of time" in which another candidate
could say that he/she would like to campaign?

Let´s say, McCain decides to drop out. This is a crazy world, shit happens. Would the Republican party just sit back and give it to Huckabee?

10. McCain is now for all intents and purposes the presumptive nominee.
Huck is just a sideshow.
