OK, FL Dems, tell us how you're going to stop them from stealing it in '04
That's the major problem a lot of us have with a 'Florida strategy'; the same folks in charge when it was stolen in '00 are still in charge in '04, but as a result of the '02 elections, they're even more firmly in charge than they were.

Give us a plan that is long on specifics about how you're going to prevent a repeat of '00, if you want us to get behind a 'Florida strategy'. No platitudes and no 'statistics', please; those may be interesting, but not really helpful. What will be helpful is a concrete plan on what you're going to actually DO to prevent another theft.

Thanks.

1. Go here.
www.blackboxvoting.com
or
www.verifiedvoting.org

Take part and read up. Our Secretary of State and Jeb are in sole control of the voting process. Glenda is not subject to legislative
power. She and Jeb own the store.

2. I know.
That's exactly why so many of us are uneasy about ANY game plan that relies on Florida to any great degree.

7. I would fight for FL.
I just would not adopt any strategy that relied upon its EV's for a victory.

8. How can we win there if Jeb has total control of the vote?
You know they've got those machines rigged for *. I don't believe for a minute the machines aren't programmed for a Puke landslide.

11. I think you have reason to believe that.
I just think we force them to spend money there. You know, it's possible they COULD lose their nerve, if our majority is big enough.

15. I really pray you are right.
Perhaps if exit polls demonstrate a bit Dem win and the news media isn't too chickenshit to report it, we could demand a state wide paper ballot recount. I think its an idea that needs to be considered. If Kerry is going to spend money in FL he better be watching his back big time.

3. How about bringing Robert Koontz back into....
...the democratic party mainstream and backing his efforts to expose all those responsible for both what happened in 2000 and how that was repeated again in 2002 elections. Support those who will fight for the rights of citizens and the freedoms and equal protections that democratic party stands for. :dem: :kick:

5. Send Jimmy Carter in with UN election observers.
They do it in every other country ruled by a fascist regime. Why not this one?

17. Wasn't there some kind of int group "overseeing" the '02 FL vote?
If so, they were an abysmal failure.

6. Use billy clubs and mace on the next repug Brooks Brother riot.
It should have been done the first time.

The fault was not in their staged demonstration in a public place - it was the fact that the election board succumbed to their feigned protestations.

As someone who was arrested at one of the 2000 selection demonstrations I cannot support your statement one iota!

Ya can't beat back intolerance with intolerance.

19. My problem with the Brooks Brothers riot is that the "protesters" were....
...not residents of the Miami/Dade county area, but paid Republican staffers bussed and flown in from other states. In other words, it was not a legitimate action of free speech, but planned intimidation.

Ironically enough, the tactics used could easily fit the vague definitions of "terrorism" in the Patriot Act. Not that it would ever be used against Republicans.

20. Tony actually knew one of the 'protesters'
He's a lawyer and Republican hack from Indianapolis, buy the name of Bob Grant. He said when he saw the pics, his mouth dropped open.

9. People are too "laid back" here. We need to revolt . Fl is gerrymandered.
The Pubs are overwhelming in charge of the Florida Senate and House despite the fact that the state is close to being 50-50. How'd THAT happen?

12. And THAT'S why the rest of us worry.
You're a 50-50 state with the Republicans FIRMLY in control of freakin' EVERYTHING. Why should we be confident that they'd be less inclined to steal it this year than they were in '00?

13. More good stuff from Glenda about counting the votes.
http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/news/breaking_news/7940382.htm
SNIP...." The Department of State has notified elections supervisors that touchscreen ballots don't have to be included during manual recounts because there is no question about how voters intended to vote.

While touchscreen ballot images can be printed, there is no need and elections supervisors aren't authorized to do so, Division of Elections Director Ed Kast wrote in a letter to Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Kurt Browning.

Don't you folks know? There is no need to recount touchscreen. No need to print them off. It has been decided.
