Mika had asked her what happened in MA, considering the big-name endorsements from Massachusetts that Obama got.

Ms Rice gushed over Kennedy, saying he's a huge asset to Obama, but made no mention of John Kerry. Didn't even mention his name. What's up with that?

4. Oh, so when Mika asks about big-name endorsements, that doesn't include Kerry?
I didn't realize that she'd have to mention his name specifically. :eyes:

2. endorsement turned a 30-point lead by Hillary into a 15-point win...
Hillary was up by 30 in MA before the endorsement... she won by 15. Just because Obama didn't win the state didn't mean that the endorsement didn't help.

He probably got 5 or 6 more delegates out of MA than he would've gotten without Kennedy.

8. Plus, those endorsements helped push Obama's numbers up all over America.
And pushed him over 40% in states never expected.

Yesterday was supposed to be Hillary's sweep. MY gosh she barely made a draw, and Obama is already strong in the next round of states.

9. Which is why both Clintons sought his endorsement
and the general consensus is that he has been an excellent advocate for Obama in defusing some of the Clinton attacks. Not to mention, that there is likely some connection between the large number of new contributors to Obama in January and that it was the first time Kerry used his email list in support of him. Going forward, raising $32 million to HRC's $13 million, gives him the money advantage that was hers at the end of December. (in terms of cash on hand)

The fact that you won't admit is that if HRC gets the nomination against McCain or Romney, she will want and get his support as a surrogate.

15. The Clintons are always gracious..I doubt if they asked Kerry for his endorsement recently..
and as it turned out, neither Kerry's or Kennedy's endorsement was necessary. The Clintons stood on their own power. They are not obligated to the Kerry/Kennedy alliance.

16. The fact is they lobbied both
I assume had they, not Obama got those 2 endorsements, she would have the nomination now. She was on target to get the nomination by today 4 weeks ago. I never doubted the Clinton power, but they have not always been gracious.

Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 01:48 PM by Tellurian

5. Without the Kerry and Kennedy endorsements, the difference would have been worse.
Despite the media's fixation on "winning" or "losing" a state, we all know better. Clinton got 17 more delegates than Obama in Massachusetts. With the endorsements, it could have been a difference of 25 or more.

6. That's probably true (in Kennedy's case anyway) & Ms Rice seemed content that they closed the gap
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 09:49 AM by mtnsnake
and she implied that Kennedy might have had something to do with that, but made no mention of Kerry.

10. That's odd. Obama adviser, Susan Rice, who ought to know, doesn't seem to agree with you
on the size difference and on who deserves credit, since she only gave credit to Kennedy and basically thumbed her nose at your idol. I guess she doesn't overrate John Kerry like you do. Oh well...

12. Everyone focuses on Kennedys - always have always will. Doesn't change the fact that
Obama has great spokespeople out there who helped pull him into a draw on the very day Hillary was supposed to SWEEP.

11. What happened with Mass
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 10:13 AM by Submariner
is that we are not the Kennedy-country state we were when I grew up here. Instead of a homegrown Irish/Italian dominance like before the 1980's, it is much more multi-cultural with many many out-of-town yuppie types that bring their home state ideals with them.

That is why clowns like Romney could get elected governor. Could not have happened in the Eisenhower/Kennedy era.

13. Good point. Hey, ya gotta straighten out those yuppies so a Romney type event never happens again
in such a blue state. What a joke he turned into.

We in NY have to do better, too, and make sure no more Republian Governors infest our state either. Thank goodness for Spitzer kicking ass against whoever it was he ran against, I forget what that puke's name was.
