I thought the ability to win in the South was acknowledged by everyone as a necessity.
I've seen NE democrats get their asses kicked plenty in the 25 years I've been watching politics.

Surely the ability to win in the South while bringing out young voters that otherwise might not get involved as well as pulling Independants and Republican converts is a great recipe for success in the GE.

And don't start with the "It proves he's a Republican crap. It's a silly, stupid argument."

7. They're both from Illinois for goodness sakes
And they're each just as good or dismal (depending on your viewpoint) a general election candidate as the other. But they both likely lose the South.

3. Primary vs General
Apples vs Oranges.

Neither of the Dems is likely to win this year in the South, with the *possible* exception of Virginia.

8. Alrighty then...
Any evidence of such a trend? Since I don't live there I don't know the current mood of the state, other than my liberal cousin who lives in Atlanta. He seems to agree that they're as red as Texas again.

11. The Midwest, West AND South. Methinks a certain campaign doesn't care what
happens downticket either.
