Texas and Ohio, prepare to have your asses kissed...
I don't think either Clinton or Obama is going to come out of Super Tuesday with a commanding lead. That means your state will no longer be taken for granted by the Democratic frontrunners. Whether you live in Akron or Austin, Dallas or Dayton, prepare to have Democratic candidates showing up on your front door, begging for your vote.

Celebrate. Ohio and Texas are no longer on the primary hinterlands - we're gonna be front and center come early March.

Dallas has some heavily organized Hillary supporters, but I'm also noting a lot of groundswell for Obama around these parts.

6. Looking forward to it
WASHINGTON — Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton today challenged Sen. Barack Obama to meet in four Democratic presidential debates before the March 4 primaries in Texas and Ohio — including an event scheduled for Feb. 28 in Houston.

Obama, of Illinois, did not immediately commit to travel to Houston to take on Clinton just five days before what could be a crucial Texas primary.

As voters in 22 states went to polls in the primary avalanche known as Super Tuesday, Clinton, of New York, called on her Democratic rival to agree to the debates.

"Senator Clinton has enjoyed the opportunities to debate and the chance to get her message out," said Mark Penn, Clinton's chief strategist, in a conference call with reporters. "Voters ought to have the opportunity to see these two candidates compete against each other in a one-on-one setting."

14. Hometown bias on my part, but they should debate in Dallas
There's a practical angle to a Dallas debate. Back in 2006, Democrats achieved a near-total sweep of local elected officials, and this year they plan to follow suit with state and Federal representatives.

21. Hillary knows our agenda; Bill supported it when he was in office
It would be a huge relief to see that happen again.

One of our employees (and a good friend) passed away yesterday from breast cancer at the age of 45. She and her 15 yr old daughter were living on $700 a month. We were helping her pay her phone bill. It makes me physically ill how we treat people in this country. I'm just sick of it. I know Bill would do something about it, I hope Hillary would too.

24. I can't argue with that...
I've also participated in two Komen Race for the Cure events, and every time I pass the high school cheerleading squad as they're cheering us along the route, I always start with the tears.

We, as Americans, deserve so much better than what we've been getting. On that, I think we have an accord.

32. BTW , Komen is a GOP organization
Bush recently appointed the founder to a job in the State Dept. Those of us in the movement consider them the Paris Hilton of breast cancer groups - lots of money, lots of fluff, nothing of substance to back it up. That's why you don't see many Dems aligned with them.

36. Hey OzarkDem, What group would you suggest for giving donations?.?.?
My niece passed away last November from breast cancer, she was 31. The family suggested making donations to Komen, but we had reservations about the group, and haven't sent them any money.

If there is a better organization that would benefit from the donation, then by all means let me know.

Thanks for the info.

37. National Breast Cancer Coalition
Here's their web site; they do great work in public policy and research and health care advocacy. They're run by breast cancer survivors and provide training to put breast cancer activists in decision-making positions for research, health care and legislative advocacy.

http://www.natlbcc.org/

Its also the home of the Virginia Clinton Kelley fund, begun by Big Dog, whose mother died from breast cancer. Big Dog did more to eradicate breast cancer during his two terms than any other president before and since. Some great speeches and interviews with Virginia at this link:

15. On the repub side, Ron Paul
will probably make a surprisingly strong showing down here. Even in Dem areas, I see Paul signs *everywhere*. His supporters are extremely active and motivated, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is finally in the top 3.

Otherwise, I am glad I don't watch much tv, otherwise I'd probably be throwing things at the set over the next few weeks. The only thing worse than the Clinton-Obama wars on DU are the Obama-Clinton wars on tv. :)

16. Ron Paul has become the Mike Gravel of the GOP
Strong - even fierce - grassroots support, but somehow it just won't translate into votes.

I'm predicting a footrace between McCain and Huckabee in Texas.

18. Perhaps
The people who might otherwise have voted for him might fear "wasting" their votes and instead try to actually decide the nominee. But of the admittedly few Paul supporters I know, I must say that they are as loyal and dedicated to the cause as the Edwards people. I really won't be shocked if he does well (and by well I mean double digits as opposed to what he's pulled so far- I don't think he could win).

But I have been wrong before. Rarely, but it does happen. :)

28. I read something recent claiming Mass would've
been better off if we hadn't moved the primary to Super Tuesday this year. I think it was pretty dead on because as much as some may feel they have more of a voice voting earlier situations like this can easily arise where the race isn't "decided" by early February.
