I would have voted for Edwards; he's out. I'm leaning Obama. Try to change my mind.

Have at it...you've got a real challenge, but give it your best shot.

2. Make up your own mind. Do a little reading up on their views, and go with the one YOU like.
I don't think people should be hectored or bullied, even if they ASK for it!

3. I would simply say to vote your heart.
I am a come-to-Obama late supporter (only last month). John Edwards dared do what few do: speak of class disparity in America. I am forever grateful for that.

I'm glad you are a Democrat and that's good enough for me, dave123williams.

I will only say this: I have never felt so much joy and hope for a candidate in my too-many years at this. I agree with Ethel Kennedy, Barack reminds me also of Bobby who I still love and cherish.

Make your own decision. Both Hillary and Barack are good people.

4. Could I change your mind about basing that decision on DUers' opinions?
Because this place has devolved severely lately. You're losing IQ points just by checking the responses.

11. Who cares what WE think? We're just political freaks and junkies...
...makin' noise on a mesage board. No sensible person would base their vote off of what goes on at DU.

13. Yes, let a few people on a message board push you into a sympathy vote
Poor, poor Clinton. Obama gets shat upon here as well, it is the nature of political message boards.

7. Obama wants to 'get along" and "work with" the same people Edwards wanted prosecuted.
All we hear from Obama is Comity and Change.

The only "change" I ever heard from Edwards was, "Let's forcibly change the people in power from them to us."

IOW, Obama is and wants to be a lover. Edwards is and wants to be a fighter.

Big difference.

9. I absolutely hate these posts. It's up to you to try and figure out who is best for you.
Read each candidates positions, visit their websites, listen to the debates. It's not up to one of us to try and convince you who to vote for.

14. On policy, Obama and Clinton are pretty similar
there are some differences, but the key factor for me to vote Obama is Clinton's support for the IWR. At the last debate she tried to explain her thought process behind giving the Bush Administration the authority to go to war. I just wasn't buying it. I didn't buy it in 2002 and 6 years of hindsight still leads me to the same conclusion.

The second factor is electability. There's a reason that the GOP candidates always trash Clinton in their debates. It's because they know that just by mentioning her name will rile up their base to vote GOP. If they were as clever as we are, ABC would be their rallying cry. Anyone But Clinton. I've always felt that if you really want a democrat in the white house come next January, you shouldn't vote for Clinton. I know that there are a lot of Hillary people who will want to rip my head off for saying this, but it's just my opinion.

15. Candidates running for Congress want Obama
Not only will Obama win the Presidency but he will bring a ton of Congress seats with him.

16. I have loads of arguments for Clinton, but...
... I agree, you need to do your own research by reading both candidate's websites, thoroughly, and ignore the mainstream media who want nothing more (and have said so) than to take this thing down to the wire (hence their full-fledged, biased and inflammatory reporting).

factcheck.org, mediamatters.org, Bill Moyers' Journal are very helpful

And here is my main impression, for what it is worth. To quote one pollster regarding a "paradigm shifting" candidate from another election: "when you need to change government, you 'clean house' when government is not functioning properly and the need is, therefore, to make government function better--in a new, more effective way. Perhaps Obama is that candidate.

"However, when your government has been destroyed along with your international reputation, and your 'house is burning down' the last thing you need is to 'clean house' with a paradigm shifting candidate. We need to 'put out the fire' and fix what has been and is being destroyed, and then go about 'cleaning house' later." The only candidate that has the depth of knowledge and gravitas to stem the damage done is Hillary.
