It's utter bullshit: The Democratic party is NOT on the verge of splitting
Last night I heard Andrew Kohut of the Pew Foundation addressing the state of the dem and repuke parties. He said clearly that dems are in good shape and that the vast majority of dems- some 80% are happy with their candidates, and that the supporters of Clinton and Obama will support whoever gets the nomination. So the dire predictions that the dem party will split are based on nothing. There is no indication that the party is in trouble, in contrast to the hapless and unhappy repukes.

1. The "split party" crap is the latest Rovian tactic from the Clinton crowd.

4. It is the Obama crowd who claim they wont bother voting if their candidate doesn't get nominated
We have heard it from them for months.

19. I have heard them say it over and over
"I wont vote if Hillary is the nominee, I'll stay home"

Everyday their is at least one Obama supporter thread with that theme and there has been for a loooong time.

Arrogance

Things will look very different in the fall.

28. Over and over? Ok. Give us a link.
You have two Obama supporters right here right now telling you'll we'll vote for Hillary if she wins.

Does that carry any meaning, or do our declarations simply interfere with your agenda?

How about you?

13. Simply not true.
Some people will say anything, but in the end, we all want to see a Democrat in the White House. I truly believe this.

Peace:thumbsup:

10. Bull. just as many Clinton supporters
have said the same thing. And furthermore, there's strong evidence of that in a very long thread on the front page of GDP penned by a Clinton supporter saying no way will she vote for Obama.

Now, I realize that a lot of this sentiment is simply heat of the moment. I've been guilty of that myself when I wrote that I wasn't sure I'd vote for her, and that it depended on what her campaign did. But the truth is, I have a ton of good will toward her in many ways, and I've long said so. It was Bill that pissed me off, not Hillary.

30. Nice framing, but the link you give does not support your claim.
Obama is talking about his base of support coming from young people, independents, centrist Republicans, and moderate Democrats who he energizes. He is NOT saying that he is urging them not to vote for Hillary.

Pure hysteria.

35. Serious voters
Serious voters, whether Obama or Clintons supporters will vote for whichever is the nominee. Where else would they take their vote? The only drop off I might see is the young voters that feel energized by the Obama campaign. If Obama is not the nominee they may feel disenchanted with the process and not come out at all. Of course who ever loses this nomination is going to enthusiastically endorse the winner. Both candidates' supporters recognize the dire need to change direction in this country and they know that that means a Democratic President.

36. Thank you.
Yes, we're talking about serious voters. You will always find obnoxious nay-sayers on websites who just want to keep some type of argument alive.

As far as I am concerned, any Democrat who doesen't vote for our eventual nominee is not a DINO.

Peace:thumbsup:

It's a real possibility with the current level of hate spewing from Obamanation.

Get a fucking clue: DU IS NOT THE REAL WORLD. IT DOESN'T REFLECT THE REAL WORLD.

Go read the new Pew poll about how united dems are, and stop spewing ignorant nonsense. It's pathetic.

5. I think trolls are throwing up that meme...
...and trying to see if it sticks.

Desperation.

Never before has our party been so galvanized, plugged in and ready to rock.

Dem voter turnout, in the states that have all ready voted, is up 100 percent in
most of those states. In my state of Iowa, Dem turnout increased 100 percent from 2004.
There were lines out the door to the caucus. It was absolutely inspiring and extraordinary.

We will kick the ass of any Republican nominee. I don't care if Reagan rises from the grave and
runs. The Dems will galvanize, as never before, and take our country back.

That flimsy meme that some are throwing around is not supported by what everyone clearly sees
during our primary season.

8. Among the older crowd I hang with an Obama win will mean no enthusiasm for Nov and some voting for M
I don't think it will be many voting for McCain - but it appears there will be a large group that will chose to not vote

Granted that new voters in their 20's may make up for this - but they never have in the past (Dean being the latest example).

I expect the Dem to win - but one should not pretend that Obama has not pissed off a lot of people with the fake race card crap and the weak Health and the suggestion that his followers should expect small bipartisan changes.

15. you're doing classic projection and extrapolating mistakenly
from your personal experience. That's just a huge error. Facts belie your claims. Some people are pissed off by Clinton, some by Obama but they are in a small minority. I mean, who am I supposed to believe? YOU? Or Andrew Kohut, Pew and just about every fucking analyst out there from Peter Hart to Larry Sabato to repuke analyst. Educate yourself.

16. No you just have the voters possibly going to the other party
if they vote at all.

The Democratic Party never splits. It is an assimilation of
"groups". The groups just shrink while the silent majority
in the Democratic ease out and do not vote or go GOP.

20. I tend to agree. I only wonder whether the dynamic of having women and minorities really energized
by people who identify with them. Usually we have old white men who win or lose the nomination. Coalescing around the winner was sometimes problematic because of issues or personality, but race and gender were never an issue.

I don't expect that it will be much harder than usual to get behind the eventual nominee, but I do believe that it will be more interesting this time to make and watch that happen.
