Hillary's Dean Sream
There are many ways of explaining mandatory health insurance.

"going after peoples wages" is not one of them.

What was she thinking?

2. Lol. It was her Dean Scream. As I pointed out...
somewhere here earlier, I could almost hear the cash registers in the Midwest ringing up frantic ammunition purchases with that, "going after people's wages" remark.

3. Any candidate
who claims they can provide universal coverage WITHOUT increasing taxes is lying.

"This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

18. I don't hate HRC at all.
She has a stellar intellect. But that phrase it the most inept way of putting it. It's RW steak. As I said in the post. What was she thinking. Surely she has had ample time to get her phrasing together on such a potentially explosive issue.

(STEPHANOPOULOS: ) And, I mean, you talked about automatic enrollment. Will you garnish wages of people who don't comply, don't buy the insurance?

CLINTON: George, we will have an enforcement mechanism. Whether it's that or it's some other mechanism through the tax system or automatic enrollments.

But you're missing, I believe, the key point. If you don't start with universal health care, and I have very aggressive cost controls and quality improvements, and my health care tax credits plus the premium cap that I am the only person to put in to a health care plan to say, your income will be adjusted so that a small percentage will be always the limit of what you have to pay for premiums.

If you don't do what I am saying we do, we will never even attempt to get to universal health care. And the reason why I think there are a number of mechanisms, going after people's wages, automatic enrollment, when you are at the place of employment, you will be automatically enrolled, whatever the mechanism is is not as important as, number one, the fundamental commitment to universal health care, the appreciation that, with health care tax credits and with a premium cap, it will be affordable for everyone.

22. Read the whole article before you go spouting nonsense.
Here is the very next paragraph:
snip~
Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms. With her proposals for subsidies, she said, "it will be affordable for everyone."
~snip
Do you realize that right now, the rest of us pay for those who can very well afford insurance. The rich have learned how to milk the system. They show up at emergency rooms with no coverage, even though they can well afford it and you & I pay for them with higher premium rates. Get a clue.

26. "going after peoples wages"
That's the headline. The American people have never been too worried about subtly. Government hands in their pockets is all too easy to understand. What are you going to tell the electorate, read the article.

"I invented the internet"; (I will be) "going after people's wages" kills Hill, no matter what the merits of the issue. RW manna from heaven.

8. Then you say "raise taxes". You don't say "going after people's wages" EVER.
Unless you're trying to prevent many Democrats, most Independents, and all Republicans from voting for you.

In other words, unless you want to lose the election.

"going after people's wages"? No she didn't.

Idiots here on DU say it. Clinton did not.

I just read another article that didn't include that. I apologize.

But she didn't say she WOULD. She was discussing the possible options.

21. Unfortunately it doesn't matter...
It was a really unfortunate choice of words.

I was really shocked that she let it slip; she's usually so good at choosing her words. But George was really pestering her with the question and I think he got her flustered.

4. It's gonna hurt her. Maybe not in the primary, but in the general. If you
think people hate the idea of a tax hike to pay the government, try grabbing their wages to pay insurance companies for health insurance they'd rather opt out of (if they don't have kids). Are we adults with free will, or what?

if that's what you think.

Because NO plan is going to come for free.

15. I agree with the no-mandate idea of Obama's. I'm not arguing
against universal health care. But if you're an adult without children, and you opt out for whatever reason, then you opt out. No one can FORCE you to buy health insurance.

24. It's not a matter of legislative wrangling after a Dem takes office--
it's a matter of nominee Hillary being slammed badly on the "we're going to steal money from YOUR paychecks" that will hurt in the general election.
