Clark/Edwards Ticket
We have to win the south folks. As much as I like Dean I dont think he can win the south. This seems logical at this point. I know that this will be deaned shortly..we know we are going to win most if not all northern states. We need to pick up a couple down south to win the election.

:dem:

I will vote for anyone who makes it out of the primary but I like this scenario.

3. I Like Clark/Graham a Lot Better
Edited on Tue Dec-30-03 08:08 PM by DoveTurnedHawk
Graham is more popular in FL than Edwards is in NC. FL has many more electoral votes than NC. Graham also has all of Senatorial experience, executive experience and foreign policy experience, while Edwards only has Senatorial experience. Finally, Graham never kept people like Hugh Shelton on his payroll, and refused to disavow his baseless smears.

10. Graham? No way.
I like Edwards -- helps pull in the South -- but if you like Bob Graham, then you don't know Bob Graham. Being a journalist in Florida, I like to think I'm pretty up on the dude. Folks, according to HIS OWN SENATE.GOV WEBSITE, Bob Graham is one of the primary authors of the Patriot Act and was the sponsor of Countersurveillance 34.

In other words, he's for allowing the government to walk all over you (Patriot Act) and he's for you not knowing anything about the gov't (Countersurveillance). Look it up. Graham gets zero support out of me. When he dropped out of the race, I did like Bartcop and had a shot of Chinaco.

Although I will tell you up front that I am not a one-issue voter, by any means. I still think Graham has some formidable advantages as VP, although he is by no means my only choice, and maybe not even my first choice. I just like him better than Edwards. :-)

71. No, no, no!
You leave Bill Richardson alone. He's our guv and we need him a hell of a lot more than the national ticket does.

Seems to me we've got an embarrassment of riches nationally, while poor New Mexico is just beginning to see a little light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to Bill--and if that light ain't a freight train, freight train, goin' so fast--& about to run us down as it has turned out to be so often in the past.

We might let President Clark have him in Clark's second term, but not now.

No way.

Bugger off.

With all due respect, of course. :spank:

8. Problem is that
I seriously doubt that America wants a personal injury lawyer in the White House. The problem with Bob Graham is that his personality may seem strange to a lot of people. I am a Clark supporter, and think that Mary Landreiu, Evan Bayh, Max Baucus, George Mitchell and even John Kerry would make great runningmates.

this "personal injury lawyer" has spent years fighting for the average guy against HMOs, drug companies, and insurance companies.

anyone who has ever been denied treatment or suffered from the restrictions of HMO's will see him as a hero and well prepared to take on the healthcare issues.

Edwards is no ambulance chaser and it's gonna be very hard to paint him as such.

Herd Elizabeth Edwards...say so. It will take Clark and Edwards behind Dean to carry the south, with the three, and a deep recession especially in South Carolina and North Carolina...we could carry Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina...and I think with Clark as his Sec of State and Edwards as Vice President ...Dean could win the election, or Clark and Edwards could win the election...We are going to have to go into the south and do a lot of splaining as Desi said..in I love Lucy. It is going to take time and a lot of talking ,between Dean and Edwards...+ lots of help from Clark, we can carry the south.

19. Going with your ticket for a minute --
-- I had an image of the Vice Presidential debate, and saw Edwards and Cheney up on a stage.

Cheney: bulbous, monotoned, remote, reptilian, scowling, unapproachable.

Edwards: temperate, good-looking, folksy, affirming, easy-to-smile, warm-natured.

Your ticket isn't my first choice, but if it happens, President Cheney is in trouble.

Respond if anyone agrees with this. I feel that a Clark/Edwards ticket would have a good possibility of winning the Carolinas, then an Edward running for Prez would.

Also with Edwards as VP, Clark would have a better chance because southerners could and would identify with them. They would not have to depend on their endorsers to go out and tell the people how they understand their pain. Both of them have lived it and probably know people personally who are still living it. Edwards was born in S.C. and is a N.C. senator. Also the Carolinas are military states.

My gosh, I am just drooling thinking about the possibilities!!!!

33. Edwards connects to a broad range of Americans when he's actually given
the right platform -- ie, when he gets to make multiple-paragraph length arguments.

It's a skill that I haven't seen in ANY of the other candidates. I wouldn't waste this talent on the person on the bottom of the ticket. He has all the right symbols, AND he has the skills. I'd put the person with the skills and the symbols at top of the ticket, and I'd put the person with the great symbols, but the OK skills on the bottom of the ticket.

Many of the candidates could out-debate Bush but Edwards would look good doing it.

It's unfortunate that he hasn't gotten enough attention or momentum to generate real support, because I think Edwards is the second choice for a lot of people, and his nomination would unite the party.

34. It could not lose
Clark/Edwards would carry all the Gore states, plus Florida and Arkansas. It could also carry LA,NC,SC,VA,WV, and maybe CO

The Reason it could not lose is because it would do three major things. First, it would steal states in the South that Bush could not win, including Florida. Second, it would force Bush to go on the defense in southern states wasting money. Third, spending time and money defending southern states prevents him from making in roads to states like Iowa, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Pennslyvania.
Clark and Edwards are also excellent at fundraising, have not attacked each other in the campaign, and they are not that bad looking guys either.

Personally, I would like a Clark/Hillary Ticket. But we need to focus on winning.

Mike

Edwards still hasn't missed a vote in which his vote would have made a difference.

While I love the idea of Clark/Edwards, personally, I think Clark would go for someone to help in the north. Probably some congressperson or former congressperson that southerners aren't too familiar with, but that northerners are. So I wouldn't be familiar with who those possibilities might be.

Graham would not be helpful, either, to Clark. (But would be for a candidate from the north.)

What is with these MYTHS about this incredible candidate?

Edwards did NOT write, or co-write the Patriot Act.
He did NOT write the IWR.
He did NOT vote for the Medicare bill. In fact, Edwards, Kerry, and Lieberman left the campaign trail to come back to DC to make impassioned speeches against the bill.

It is really unfair to throw those charges against someone - especially such a wonderful man as John Edwards.

59. Do you have any idea
how the Edwards camp responded to the letter?

If ONLY Edward's had not done that. It was a stab in Clark's back. :(

74. He didn't "hire" him. Shelton is also from NC and they have
known each other for many years.

64. Reagan held his nose after Bush Sr. hit him with
"voodoo economics" and went on to win.

73. I remember that,
but I see this Shelton issue as a little more "personal" than the Reagan/Bush "voodoo economics" policy issue.

66. I don't think that Edwards
would attach himself to a losing campaign.

What the hell is the point of being the VP if the campaign just can't get it done.

72. Clark will win,
that's why he would attach himself to the Clark campaign. He will wipe the floor with the mindless wonder.

75. and if wishes were wings
frogs wouldn't bump their asses when they landed. (My mom says that alot.)

The Clark campaign has made strategic errors from day one that doomed him.

76. All those strategic errors
sure have hurt Clark's fundraising ability, growing support, increased media attention.

Wow, has he blown it.

79. What errors?
Yes do tell... what "strategical errors" have been made? Seems to me he's not suffering any of the silliness the Dean backers are floundering in. Talk about a flip flop...
