Assemblymember Dave Jones endorses Senator Barack ObamaSACRAMENTO – With the withdrawal of Senator John Edwards from the race, Assemblymember Dave Jones (D-Sacramento) announced today that he is supporting Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.
"I believe Senator Barack Obama will best carry forward John Edwards' ideals and vision for One America," said Jones. "Senator Obama’s message of change and hope, his background and experience, and his tremendous ability to inspire Americans who have been disengaged from the political process, all make him our strongest and best choice for President."
Jones, a former legal aid lawyer and Chairperson of the Assembly Judiciary Committee, was a leader of the Edwards campaign in California.
"As a volunteer for John Edwards in the Iowa Caucuses, I saw first hand how Senator Barack Obama was able to inspire and motivate young people, independents and Democrats to turn out in record numbers to support him," said Jones. "Here in Sacramento, there has been a huge grassroots volunteer effort on behalf of Senator Obama that has gotten people involved who were previously disengaged or apathetic."
As a leader of the California John Edwards campaign, Jones’ endorsement of Obama is critical at a time when Edwards voters are deciding whom to support for Tuesday’s California primary.
