In spite of this article , hailed by some blamimg "elitist liberals" for rejecting Edwards,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=4324456&mesg_id=4324456
the actual liberal media fully embraced him

here's a clue: when you see the words "liberal elitist" know to be circumspect.
It's OK to be "prejudiced" against violence and trying to annul separation of church and state. People's actions are subject to legitimate criticism. People's genetic traits (color, sex) are not.

1. No difference between liberal/conservative media
They both want to choose for you. A vast majority of America never had the chance to choose Edwards. We'll be served a candidate to "choose" on a silver platter.

3. You know, the people decide
Now that the period of mourning is over, let me just say that this whining about the media and Edwards has to stop. He got the kind of media that a candidate who was running distant third in national polling and in fundraising gets. In fact, he possibly got more (magazine covers, full hours on Hardball, etc.) than candidates in that position usually get, because of his having been on the ticket in 2004.

Look on the Republican side. Rudy Giuliani was getting more media coverage than Britney Spears for most of the year: the voters did not go for him.

Sometimes a candidate just does not click with the public. There may have been many reasons for this: the fact that Democrats don't generally give a second chance to their candidates who have previously lost (unless they redeem themselves over decades, not months); the fact that the new and improved Edwards did not square with the Edwards people had seen just a few years earlier; the fact that two popular and compelling candidates eclipsed him in the public imagination .... many reasons. But blaming it on the media sounds childish and unrealistic.

4. Actually, no. media coverage is essential _ Gravel, Kuchinich, less Edwards
were excluded from debates, marginalized - before voters got a chance to even look at them

6. He was sidelined - and it wasn't the "liberal elite" as the article implies, but GOP
meddling in our primary via its media. period.
I just needed a clear refutation of an obviously RW article to be clear.
