Hey! You! Rank These Issues
What are the most important things that our nation needs to do right now, in your mind? Let yourself be heard!

This is a list, by no means comprehensive, of course, that we came up with last night at our Dean meetup. Pick your Top Ten, and explain, and feel free to add any of your own.

a. Create a single-payer healthcare system with no involvement of insurance companies, at all.

b. End illegal migration.

c. Create a coalition with other nations, strengthening the UN in
terms of humanitarian, ecological, and peace efforts—and end Bush’s policy of preemptive action.

d. Oppose and reverse media consolidation. Reinstate very strict FCC media ownership rules.

e. Major campaign reform: no revolving door, no lobbyist moneys, eliminate PACS.

f. Fair trade laws; no “dumping” laws; rewrite NAFTA and WTO;
oppose consolidation of agribusiness; not just global or local, but both.

g. No tax breaks or government contracts for companies who outsource jobs; create more jobs.

h. Equal funding for all children regarding their education; fund Head Start.

i. Keep gay marriages/civil unions out of federal government
control and out of constitution; should be states' and local governments' decisions.

j. Find an energy alternative to oil and reduce our oil consumption massively over the next decade.

k. Balance the federal budget

l. No bankruptcy benefits for industries to dump their retirees’
benefits into.

m. Reduce the cost of pharmaceuticals in the US so we don’t have
to go to Canada or Mexico to get the US-made pharmaceuticals

n. Rebuild diplomatic relations; implement strong policies
with unstable countries (i.e. Korea).

o. Tie foreign aid to Israel to their removal of illegal settlements in the West Bank and Gaza (or get out of Israel altogether).

p. Reverse all of Bush’s environmental policies/laws.

q. Reverse all of Bush’s social program changes.

r. Provide free medications for seniors.

s. Rescind Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy.

1. J, K, P
IMO, everything else is pointless, we're all dead, if those issues are not resolved soon.

But, in the meantime, D, C, and A.

for a start.

But, those are my personal priorities, but I could easily rank C right up with J. We need to work on many of those things simultaneously.

4. C, S, A, I, G, H, F, J, P, D
T: Filling the judiciary with pro-choice judges.
U: Ending the asinine drug war.

I'd like them all, but I'll settle for as many as I can get.

7. Cool
S - gotta get the budget in order if we want to actually fund anything!

E - gotta get clean elections and politicos if we want to actually accomplish anything!

D - gotta end corporate media rule if we want to end the stranglehold on the misinformed and manipulated public.

G - help with the tax receipts AND jobs!

A - only I wouldn't say no private insurance at all -- AFAIC they can still sell salon type coverage for those who can afford & want it

H - gotta educate the less fortunate if we want them to have a shred of hope that anything can be changed!

L - no more corporate welfare!!!!

and following in descending order, J, M, C, N, O, K, B

Thanks for this thread - wish you could have that many poll choices (IRV anyone?)

15. Welp, so far we're all over the place.
Maybe we should be talking about the issues more, instead of who's a real Democrat and who isn't, so we can figure out what we actually want to do.
