How did this crap about Obama claiming to be a Messiah start?
This characterization of Obama as claiming to be pure and messianic is really being repeated endlessly here.

Does the fact that Obama is calling for a more positive and hopeful style of politics mean that he mistakes himself for Jesus?

Does the fact that he believes civility has a place in politics mean that he is holier than thou?

Is he claiming that being a relative newcomer to Washington is akin to saying he is the product of a virgin birth?

Does having enthusiastic supporters mean they are cultists or see themselves as the Apostles?

Is having self confidence the same as having a God complex? What politician who runs for president isn't arrogant and believe they have what it takes to lead the country?

I think it's about time his critics found another meme. That one is getting boring.

2. They said the same thing about Dean and the Deanics
Whenever a candidate gets a major movement started, his detractors will use these kinds of attacks against him. It's really a weak response.

he's going to act arrogantly and make mistakes.
I asked Deaniacs too why did they thing th RW media was pimping Dean; "because they've seen the light" We already know how that one ended

16. It is a fine line to walk, I'll admit
The MSM does tend to get crushes....Which is often followed by equally foolish attacks to knock the same people of the pedestal.

And I'm sure being the subject of an MSM crush can cause someone to lose perspective.

Nevertheless, I don't that Obama has let it all get to his head too much. Not enough to put him into the self-appointed messiah category anyway.

26. When Kerry makes DEMANDS on the media not to cover Florida (on campaign behalf)
you know that they feel entitled.
Much of their points of contention with the so call racial attacks were inflamed - and fed back to the media
They officially developed a strategy to gain sympathy from being Clinton;s victims

"Advisers believe that the more the Clintons poke at Obama, the more sympathetic he becomes"

22. I was thinking that too. Dean inspired deep enthusiasm AND a movement. It's jealousy, IMO.
Hillary does not especially move crowds the way Obama does.

28. I loved Dean and can't stand Obama
Dean had real positions and an exceptional record as governor, and unlike his main 2004 competitor, a real fighting spirit.

18. JFK said in his Inaugural Address:
"Here on Earth God's work must truly be our own". That did not make him a Messiah or me a cult member. Nor should Obama's call to service be the basis for the snark he routinely receives on the characterization of him and his supporters. I am not calling your post snark but it is a recurring negative theme pushed by opponents that is pretty silly.

12. Jealous Shillbots don't like that Obama's likeable and Hillary isn't.
Because many of us here acknowledge that Obama has charisma and is a good speaker, we're "cultists" who follow our "messiah". :eyes:

But I don't believe for a moment that Obama fancies himself as the second coming...

30. That's the Tuesday / Sunday Obama supporter meme
On Wednesday he is the reincarnation of MLK, and on Monday, Friday, and Saturday he is the next JFK. His campaign put out a memo about it -- said it was ordered from Obama himself. LOL - Didn't you get the memo?
