2. I would reconsider going third party if that were to happen
I sincerely never want to vote for Lieberman again. So much so that I would have to go third party.

It would sicken me to see the Democratic Party sink so low.

Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 10:52 PM by arissa
Please. Kerry is DLC through-and-through, a rich white guy centrist. He needs to find a veep that will appeal to the liberal base so they don't start trickling away to Green/Independent candidates.

Besides, the press would immediately brand it the Sominex ticket. Neither of them are particularly inspired campaigners. And Lieberman's moderate reputation would only draw attention to the fact that Kerry has consistently ranked among the most liberal members in the Senate.

Frankly, I'm hard pressed to come up with any obvious choice. Bill Richardson was elected governor only two years ago. I don't think he'd want to give up the governorship so soon. Bob Graham is a lousy campaigner, disagreed with Kerry on the war resolution, and couldn't deliver Florida with a Massachusetts liberal at the top of the ticket. Bayh is too bland, couldn't deliver Indiana, and probably isn't any better known in Ohio than Kerry is. Clark was an erratic campaigner at best, couldn't deliver Arkansas (seriously folks, he couldn't), and disagreed with Kerry on the war resolution.

I think it could come down to Gephardt or Edwards. Gephardt may be the smarter choice, since he might help a little in Missouri and could make sure the Teamsters stay on board. Edwards can't deliver North Carolina. But one thing Edwards could do is make Kerry's argument far better than Kerry could. Kerry is a lousy speaker. He doesn't talk like a normal human being and he can't articulate a coherent theme to save his life. But Edwards can make a point in five minutes that Kerry would struggle with for an hour.

11. That would be a great idea!
He strengthened Gore's ticket so much last time. He has enormous amounts of charisma, and has demonstrated a strong ability to get votes. I would love to see a repeat performance of his debate with Cheney, he just demolished him last time.

Let's get some of that old Joementum going. <sarcasm>

I think, from what I've heard from Kerry, that he and Joe aren't that far apart on a whole host of issues. It just might really bring in that all important cross-over Republican/imperialism vote.:)

Let's just all slit our wrists right now.......since that would DEFINITELY hand the "selected" Pig his first REAL win. No need to even fix the machines. I hope this is satire on your part. I'll assume it is.

If I'm not mistaken he practically got an endorsement from Hannity.

24. Well if it's Lieberman:
And not "Joementum" everything should be all right. Seriously, Lieberman's done a lot for the party. He's the reason Florida was so close the last time, and he gets a bum rap here.

Bring Joe on to "center" up the ticket would "center" it squarely in the Republican party.

Lieberman had his chance last time and he blew it. We need someone like Clark, Richardson, Edwards or Bayh on the ticket this time; I don't want Lieberman anywhere near the ticket.
