I think the Clinton campaign made the offer to Edwards
Barack didn't really need Edwards. Hillary's people gave him a sweet deal to throw the race to her. Now he'll be sitting pretty and it will all be because we believed his populist rhetoric and that he was a fighter. This after his votes on the record showed the opposite. I believed him when he said he was not going to give up. Jokes on me. I hopeI can get my $100 back.

and also talking points from the enemy.

Now, are you sure that's logical thinking?

They are very good at it. Suppose this is oh, a new talking point, how would we know it isn't?

You're no fun, and I think your wild ideas about how politics work is sadly mistaken. If you think being question is being attacked, maybe you need to get a little thicker skin. Or some reliable sources.

he was about to hit the make or break moment and he pulled out 5 days ahead. This while there is STILL a fundraiser going on for his presidential bid.

This was a decision made in a hurry. What could have made him drop out other than a sweet offer?

She got no coverage today of her "win" in large part due to Edwards dropping out today. If anything, he did it to help Obama.

if she wanted him to drop out thinking it would help her because he takes votes from her, why would she want someone who has the same positions as she has, who wouldn't add anything to the ticket?

by the way - when and how is the VP picked? is it after the one party nominee is chosen? Can no one float a running mate as part of the primary?

Maybe she is...probably she's not.
The VP can be picked any time, but of course the person has to agree. Nothing stops a nominee from saying anything, floating any ideas, etc.

42. Vice Presidential hopeful Edwards II
I def think this was part of the deal, as she would be perfect to battle her elitist and feministic image. He appeals directly to those who are turned off by Hillary and can speak to the white male working class. As for those who said he failed in 04, i think the reason bush was hard to beat is because he is the only recent Republican who was willing to dumb himself down to the LCD, almost convince him he was one of them, sacrificing credibility and dignity. He was also the most likeable which helped him push his bileist agenda. Edwards has what both campaigns need: a non-elitist approach. We are now the party of the rich, which in reality is not bad, so as long as they aren't helped the most, the rich help us raise money for our cause. But we cannot have that image. Too many have already caught on to that

he is the populist democrats need, but he can't be as angry as he was this time around, but he must be tougher than he was on Bush with Kerry. he will bring the Reagan Democrats back to the party, especially away from Mitt "gordon gekko" Romney or John "Free Traitor" McCain as lou dobbs put it

54. Yes, he appeals to southern conservatives
my co worker in is an Atlanta native southern conservative who votes for Bush once. He was rooting for Edwards. So I see Edwards as someone southern christian conservatives can relate to. That was one of my strong reasons for believing that John could win.
