I was just on Rachel Maddow's show tonight

I was talking about Edwards dropping out. There were a few Edwards callers who thought that Obama has done nothing for the poor. I had to set the record straight.

I got on after being on hold for about 10 minutes...just enough time to get nervous. I got on after the woman from Washington state who said she would vote for Nader "because both Obama and Hillary are just rich people".... Whah?

Anyway, I mentioned that Obama has been working on issues concerning poverty for years (as his web site illustrates) and that he would continue working on those issues. I mentioned that Edwards was not exactly viewed positively by my Senator, Russ Feingold. Not a diss, just something I had known already about Edwards. Rachel agreed that his voting record was not what he was campaigning on. She had seen him in speeches and is/was an Edwards fan.

I ended the short call by saying that it would have been good if Edwards had stayed on until at least February 5th. I summarized that it was like going to Vegas and not playing the craps table. I could have thought of a better analogy, but her screener liked it...

All in all, why do we get so darn nervous. Listen to it if you want. And all the best to the Edwards supporters out there tonight scratching their heads and wondering what happened...

Next time, wear yourself out with deep breaths before you speak and you'll be fine.

I speak in public a lot and I learned the hard way. One time many years ago, I was so nervous, I literally ran out of breath in front of 250 people. I think some of them even noticed.

What are you talking about? Care to partake in an intelligent discussion where Obama would use "Privatization" with assisting the poor and namely pverty issues? Seriously, share your thoughts on this with links and proof.

As for the red-herring that Obama gets "help from big Wall St. Donors who do "good works", do you mean that if an accountant who works at a Goldman Sachs office in Peoria, Illinois and contributes $100 to Obama that all of those evil Wall Street capitalists are behind his woefully independent decision to spend his money where he wants to?
