Clinton's lead now just 12% in NY (PPP poll)
I'm not aware of any previous polls by PPP, but it's the first one, I believe, that shows them so close to each other.
Edwards has 10% in this poll conducted yesterday, January 29th.

Obama gets 44% of the African American vote compared to Clinton's 32%.

1. Interesting that they are so close in this poll - if Obama takes New York this outfit has made its
mark with the first poll to show them close and with Obama able to play the race card again so as to win.

2. Why do you say "...Obama playing the race card so as to to win" ? If Hillary has more
women voting for her is she playing the gender card? Let's be fair here.

4. If he gets a higher percentage of blacks to vote for him" is the OP's PR wording - a race card idea

7. But what voters do is not "playing the race card" on the part of the candidate." Makes no sense.

The logic is not there.

if Hillary announces she is targeting females such to vote against the male, then that is the gender card - and if in the next 4 days she questions Obama's speeches as saying something was "unfortunate" re women's right over nothing being said that was weong in that Obama speech - the way Obama chose to do to her before SC over Hillary giving a civics lesson that it takes both great movement leaders to push for a law and someone in power to get a law signed - then she will have played a gender card the way Obama played the race card to get SC and then Teddy on his side.

6. So when Hillary downplays MLK's contribution it is a "civics lesson" but if Obama objects it is
"playing the race card." Ok. And I guess Bill didn't play the race card when he downplayed Obama's win in South Carolina by saying that Jesse Jackson had won there in 1984 and 1988. - Just a "civics lesson", right? Come on. Your bias is showing.

13. So what about those abortion flyers HRC sent out about Obama in NH?
Was that playing the gender card when the HRC campaign lied about Obama's abortion record?

8. This could be huge come Super Tuesday
If Obama can come that close, and steal around 100 of the 230 delegates, he will be in good shape, because he will take Illinois by a greater margin than Hillary did in New York.

9. "Obama gets 44% of the African American vote compared to Clinton's 32%."
That's bad news for Obama.

10. Umm... no it isn't.
This is Clinton's home state, a state where Clinton is absolutely beloved among African Americans.

14. Maybe Edwards, maybe the rest was undecided
But you are severally undermining Obama's efforts here if you can't see the accompishment in Obama almost getting the majority of the black vote in Hillary's own state, the state where she is beloved by African Americans.

16. 18% are uncecided
Edited on Wed Jan-30-08 10:11 PM by gmudem
And 5% are for Edwards in this poll. I already voted for Edwards in New York but I imagine for Edwards people who will not be voting absentee, the majority of them will vote for Obama. The Keith number in this poll is about 16 and that's not even counting Edwards support.

The specifics are here. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/PPP_NY_Release_013008.pdf
