Dean for HHS Secretary?
Now that we (barring a small plane accident) know who our nominee is, I'm starting to think about what role the other outstanding nomination candidates can play going forward. I was Dean guy (and he's the candidate I've given the most money to), and it's obvious that the good Doctor of VT has tapped into something very powerful and very real out there and he deserves to remain on the national political radar. Can / Should President Kerry make Dean his secretary of Health and Human Services after he's innaugriated next January? Or is this the wrong role for Howard Dean?

1. I wish.
But Dean might speak the truth again...and that might be embarassing.

2. Either Dean could go for this, Sergeon General, or head up his grassroots.
Like he is planning to do with his campaign.

I don't know. I think Dean deserves something for what he brought to the table and for making Kerry see the light on needing to fight.

6. He could accept a cabinet post and still provide grassroots leadership...
...don't you think?

3. Yeah, either that, or...
Energy Secretary. We need to be energy independent, and I heard Dean say he would put a major push on to do just that! I think a timeframe of 10 years was mentioned.

He's one of the best, and I think Energy is going to be VERY important, especially if we have to leave the middle east.

But they had better at least ASK him to be part of the new administration, although he may want to work on reforming the Democrat Party, which is really important too!

5. Dennis would be good there
Though Dennis and Dean could handle any cabinet position just fine.

4. I could see that, though I'd like Patch Adams
in that post too. Well, one for S.G. and one for sec'y of HHS. :)

7. Ummmm, no - I like Patch & all, but imagine him in a
government bureaucracy, with authority over people. He'd have to rebuild & redesign the whole thing. Maybe that would be a good thing in the end, but it would be pretty traumatic for all concerned. Besides, he's got his own thing going, outside all the usual structure.
