28. I guess I'm just old but I find 'uppity' top close to a couple of other
words to be used in decent company. What the BLOODY hell decade is this?!

here all day. It's so childish, but there it is.

38. And she wasn't looking at him either.
I'm sure he was just trying to avoid an awkward moment. What with Kennedy just endorsing him.

3. This is NOT a partisan post, but
isn't the state of the union gala in congress an orgy of handshakes? Doesn't everyone shake everyone's hand. Hell, Kennedy and Bush probably shook hands and smiled as if they meant it.

19. Obama and Hillary have only seen each other several times
over the course of all the debates and other occasions. They've no doubt shaken hands on all those occasions. If there was any snubbing going on don't these fools think it would have come out before now. We have a series of 4 pictures. We don't know what transpired before these pictures were taken. They could have shaken hands earlier for all anyone knows. This is just crazy.

In fact, not even in the realm of possibility!

11. He had to see her - but she was only looking at Kennedy - for a good
reason they have to remain friends. Obama didn't owe her a handshake and it appears someone might have called his name. The key is - she is only looking at Kennedy. Naturally, she would have turned to extend her hand to Obama, but he had already moved. I don't see a snub.

44. I believe that
I am certain Obama was just looking around (and not at Hillary) and then asked by the other politician. I've done the snubbing of my friends when I'm totally determined to not run into things as I'm walking along (and not knowing they'd be there). Seriously as a deaf person.. it's a real multitask thing when you talk to people and look where you're walking as you're going along.

Of course Obama's not deaf but the same principle applies here.

There was no snub. It's obvious from the set of NY Times photos. Both candidates were gracious. Let's just let it rest!

(I am wondering if "The View" will issue an apology? Any chance for a correction on this lame program?)

26. No
had he extended his hand, she either would've shaken it and that would be the big picture in the news, and would've dovetailed beautifully with his unity theme. Him, Kennedy and Clinton, all smiling and shaking hands.

OR... she would've snubbed him and her campaign would be sunk and he'd be the nominee.

Instead, he turned away and it's all over the news. Whether it deserves to be or not, it is. And he's playing defense.

So of the two choices, which one was better?

47. Absolutely
I can't believe people here are falling for this and in fact with all the pictures this seems staged. Absolutely staged to give everyone something to talk about. They want to tarnish Obama. First the media picking up on the race thing and running with it and then the gender thing and then blacks against hispanics and blacks against whites and women against men and so on. This media is out of control. They are crude and are looking for just about anything to get off on and they drag us into the process.

46. There was no snub... STOP this Pettiness. Worst than the media
Edited on Tue Jan-29-08 07:43 PM by allinktup
You guys who love the establishment candidate are making a lot of hay because of the big endorsement Obama got that day. You feel betrayed for someone deciding for himself that he wanted to endorse change and not the politics of the past. And I think some of you are still hanging onto the race thing as well, still trying to divide like so many Dems and Republicans. Some of you don't want to accept change. Does the mean that some of you hardcore Dems are actually very conservative? If you like continuous war mongering, bickering, petty politics then go and join the other side because people who embrace change are progressive. Progress. That involves change. It's hard to determine if some of you are really making hay out of nothing just to even the playing field in terms of change. He represents change and you guys want to bring him down to say that he's just like her. He's not. He didn't inject race or gender into this campaign. He has a message of hope and inspiration and that's better than railing on about the negatives of an administration that is closing a chapter in our history. Stop trying to find controversy where there is none. The pictures should be proof positive that as far away as she is how could he be snubbing her? And at best it can't be determined what his intent was either. A camera that high in the wings, watching what everyone is doing sounds almost Bush-like as well. Remember our civil liberties, people and stop this pettiness, please!

He was obviously talking to Claire McCaskill as he said earlier today. I guess a photo taken out of context can certainly be misinterpreted. In those other photos it was very hard to tell they were seateded in rows.
