Kerry: Illegitimate Florida
After reading this piece I felt concern for how divisive this race has become. What does John Kerry care about Florida if it doesn't count - I guess it really does matter or he wouldn't speak. I imagine the deliegates eventually will be seated.

It's too bad this has to happen.

1. It does matter, I've been parroting how it matters the past two days.
It absolutely matters, by saying it doesn't you're saying tens of millions of people don't matter. It's a mistake of epic proportions.

8. 1) The delegates will be seated. 2) The story is momentum going into super Tues.
No matter how much his people whine that it "doesn't count," VOTERS CARE. Feb. 5th is the big game and the results in FL will be reported on.

10. Dean is jackass for letting this happen
The Republican majority in the legislature changed the primary date. The Democratic minority had no say.

12. Do we need a president that wants to change the rules. We had that for the last 7 years.
Is that not enough? This is what Kerry is talking about, not about Florida voters.

He did not make the rules. Dean did.

21. Yes it is Republican - But Dean made this decision
and it was a poor one. The problem was that the three candidates did not tell Dean it was bad - they AGREED to it. Then the Clintons decided they didn't agree. It is not reasonable to change rules mid game.

17. Dean and the legislature did not force
Kerry to act like a total asshole and make a really stupid statement. But what else would one expect from Kerry?

19. Kerry is doing something that needs to be done by Obama
He needed someone with sufficient stature to make the point that this is not what all the campaigns agreed to - and it's not fair. Obama should not make this statement himself.

This is a complete mess - and the legislature and Dean - who should be speaking out because they are his asinine rules - isn't. The one hurt is Obama. I wish Kerry was NOT in this position. I thought that it was an atrocious decision when it was made. But, it was not Kerry who suggested it or made it.
