At least he must know the DU Rules of Endorsements:

1. If it's an endorsement for your candidate it's really significant because the endorser is extremely important and powerful and beloved, no matter who he/she is.

2. If it's for the other candidate it's meaningless because the endorser is some old has-been hack nobody cares about, no matter who he/she is.
