Amidst all the stupidity, a little thought

The handshake story is stupid, but it has been interesting to watch its spread. I'm guessing that within the M$M, the thing is being driven by the usual airheads. But I'm guessing that leaning on those airheads, raining e-mails down on them, there are a bunch of Clinton supporters (no-one else has much to gain).

And it's spreading. There's no denying that.

I know I shouldn't, but I kinda admire the Clinton Camp. For their ability to take a small event on THE DAY THAT TEDDY KENNEDY ENDORSED OBAMA (objectively, should be a massive boost) and turn it into the focus. Turn Hillary into the positive figure, and Barack into the negative. To snatch an at least partial victory from the jaws of defeat, and to spin their way out of a tight spot.

This is how the Clintons do politics. It can be dirty. It can be low. It can be cheap.

But hell, I'd LOVE to see her going up against a Repub with these methods come November! If she does eventually win the nomination, I just hope we'll ALL enjoy it as Hill gives them Hell.

13. It's the narrative

I find it ... interesting ... that nearly all of the criticism of the Clintons is identical, even to the same phrases. There is some of that from the Clinton camp about Obama. But with a couple of decades behind it, the anti-Clinton rhetoric has turned into a real meme -- a self-replicating idea.

I have never seen it substantiated. Their behavior is pretty standard in American politics. Obama has rumbled tough in his day, too.

(I hold it against nobody. The American people are spectators at politics, and everybody claims to be independent, political narcissists dressing up fear of being wrong as hipness. I do think that is changing, but it will be a slow process.)

Of course, these days, nobody so much as listens when I say that, but you can try the experiment for yourself: pick out all the anti-Obama posts and you'll see a lot of that kind of automatic repetition, too. I think it's much more prominent among the Obama camp, but of course, I'm completely wrong. :)

Sadly, it is too difficult to do a site-wide statistical content analysis to determine who is really at fault -- and it's also futile.

But, yes, if some of Obama's supporters are right and Hillary and Bill are indeed a two-headed monster with super powers, if she gets the nomination, we are going to be witness to some sweet, sweet payback.
