I just don't see it. The VP needs to be a fighter.

1. Edwards is as good a fighter(litigator) as anyone, but he wouldn't bring
his state. Or other states, at least as well as some.

Edwards would make a better Attorney General from 04 - 08, then vp candidate in 08

4. United States Senator Bob Graham, Florida
After Hillary, I like Edwards - but Bob Graham makes more political sense than anyone else.

:-)

2. I like Edwards for VP
The media tend to taint everything. It's hard for them to attack Edwards the way they did Dean (mad man on the loose) or Gore (lying wonk). He's not a mental featherweight like Quayle or the Wizard of Oz behind the curtain like Cheney.

3. Cheney did what he was supposed to for Bush
That choice actually was advantageous for them electorally. He gave him the gravitas and foriegn policy credibility.

Hopefully though, they won't dump him, because now alot of people(Giuliani, Rice, etc) would be huge improvements

5. yes, here I am hoping that W does not dump Cheney
There is so much we can throw at him: Halliburton, the Secret Energy Meetings, general sleaziness, etc.

7. Edwards was reluctant to criticize Democrats, not Bush
In every speech he emphasized out of touch and out of jobs. Plus Edwards would supply exactly what we need, a positive vision of a Kerry presidency while criticizing Bush's performance, but not Bush himself or in a mean spirited way.

Our base despises Bush. Swing voters do not. The last thing we need is a ruthless attack dog, similar to the role Bob Dole played in '76. Voters want to vote FOR, not AGAINST, and an Edwards portrayal is much more likely to sway a critical 1% toward Kerry.

Still, I severely doubt Edwards will be the VP choice. This is a bland tactical year, minus the bold visionary choices that win elections. This primary season has also been flooded with fear, and it's easy to project Kerry's irrational dread of a foreign policy exchange between Edwards and Cheney.

I expect a plug-in VP aimed at a particular state or region. Interestingly, my most reliable contacts from my old home state of Florida have been championing Bill Nelson for several weeks, not Bob Graham.
