Did you know that FIVE US soldiers died today in Iraq?
You all seem so wrapped up in who may or may not have snubbed who at the SOTU, that I thought you might not have heard.

I believe that these deaths, puts the US death total in Iraq just 60 shy of 4,000. No doubt we'll be there before the general election debates start up.

In case you care.

6. I knew, but I find it pointless to post it on DU.
It always drops like a rock because people care more about who didnt shake who's hand

11. True, but what seems to be getting the lion's share of attention right now?
And is it really relevant in the grand scheme of things?

Five families were just shattered today.

And god knows how many Iraqi families shared the same fate.

20. Save it. I am more than aware of whats happening to our country
and our military. I'm also aware that Obama screwed up. And the media is covering it.
As I said, people are more than capable of handling more than one thing at once.

15. yes i care
but the nation goes along its merry way into devolving into chaos..

is it any wonder why the troops feel abandoned by all but their loved ones. in the 60`s the left demonetized the troops
now the left ignores them...

17. This is the PRIMARY FORUM
And those issues are NEVER discussed here.

Thank you for attempting to make people feel guilty for using this forum as intended, though.

18. Is Iraq not a major issue in this primary?
Do the candidates not have different ideas for ending the war?

Jesus, it's one of the few issues they actually differ on.

:sarcasm:

I know, I know... I care about the war, and IT IS PART OF THE PRIMARIES... but you'd never know bout it round these parts

22. You want to talk about the candidates stances on Iraq, fine
But just discussing the war, in general, is for the General forum.

I really dislike people coming into forums and making people feel guilty for using them as intended.

And. The idea that tonight's stupidity is any different from ANY OTHER DAY here is also silly.

This is the mudslinging forum, 24/7.

Why complain now?

24. Because no less than twenty threads about a handshake is absurd...
It has been weeks since I've seen a thread about Iraq on here.

And, yes, I too share the blame for that.

25. So what do we do?
Hightail it out of there?

Withdraw steadily?

Which is safest for the troops on the ground?

(Sorry, this was sinking amongst the handshake threads)
