Brace Yourselves: Tonight Is Kerry's High Point with the Media
I was watching Carville on CNN today, and he made a great point: no one is talking about the amazing turnaround Kerry made to win the nomination. The media declared him DEAD in December and all but crowned Dr Dean. Yet here we are 4 months later and Kerry has pretty much won the nomination in a landslide.

But what is the media busy talking about? Why, they're already busy toeing the repig talking-points line. Matthews is the worst in many respects, but they're all announcing with certainty that "Bush is formidable...trustworthy...strength of character...likeable...blah, blah," while Kerry is "going to have to move to the middle...find a way to get people to like him...etc etc."

Yep, tonight is the highpoint for Kerry as far as the media is concerned. They are salivating at "Bush's ad buys start this week...they'll paint Kerry as a LIBERAL..." The game is afoot, democracy be damned.

I haven't a clue as to how Kerry will respond, but I hope he's got something akin to Clinton or Dean's quick response teams in mind. I'm not optimistic - the first thing Kerry did was put in the call to Terry McAuliffe to shut up and not make any public appearances. BIG mistake. McAuliffe's "awol" comments drew blood...and the blood may still be flowing. Terry's been quite effective of late. Why take an attack dog off the trail at this point? Let someone else make the attacks, ride above the fray and reap the benefits. I don't get it.

Like I said. Brace yourselves.

3. Well, yeah, given that it's Kerry we're talking about.

Well, yeah, given that it's Kerry we're talking about, so
at least the fall won't be from a very great height.

2. Wow
I was just watching CNN's replay of the Larry King panel - you know you're in trouble when that creep Carlson is the most complimentary to Kerry. Blitzer is a real pig- and incompetent. Schneider can actually look straight into the cameral and tell you that Bush is just so...likable and a real nice guy. some panel - the only one they're missing is Karl Rove...

The worst thing is that they keep saying that the reason Al Gore 'lost' is because he was like 'the smartest kid in the class' - and we know how everyone hates that. What a bunch of assholes and anti-intellectuals.

5. Real man, fake media
They are forced lately to distract from their own blunders and join the excitrement of the primary "contest". This can actually go far, since Kerry contrasted to Bush is a scary pill for the media to swallow. They will be timid in attacking a genuine leader for the best interests of all America unless he personally lets them.

Keep at it relentlessly.

9. NPR this morning, Juan Williams
repeated word for word the Republican National Committee talking points on Kerry, totally uncritically, as if it were fact.

What's the strategy to undermine this bullshit?

Before November 3rd.

Honest.

Count on it.

12. Don't think for one moment
that the Dems aren't prepared. They're ready. Also the smoking gun on Bush's service time hasn't been released yet by McAuliffe. Its too early for it now. But there is a smoking gun

14. What does that tell ya
they weren't even prepared in 00 and they still really won. And that is not with the situation with JObs and the economy. Things are handled much different when you have pissed off people energized and ready to go.

18. What we are about to see...
...is * wasting $100Mn on attack ads.

The people are gonna be sick of the Kerry bashing by the time the conventions take place.

By virtue of us working the grassroots and speaking the truth to our friends and neighbors, America will ultimately reject the negativity of the GOP.

Bring it on.

20. And they will act in the predictable way: Stay home.
Meanwhile, the Republican faithful will come out and vote,
as always.

Republicans profit from shitstorms, no matter who makes them.
