I was hoping for a better speech from her. She's done a really good job by being first, an insurance commissioner, and then a governor, in the reddest of the red states. I was talking her up and really expecting a better speech. In looking back, another poster I was exchanging with was 100% right -- we should have put Biden up there to start ripping. Or maybe have had John, Hillary, and Barack give a joint response.

we should all remember that this response was written, vetted, rehearsed, and approved by the party...she had little to say about the content or the delivery.

As I said in a previous thread, I think the SOTU is viewed religeously by indies and the sitting president's party and often missed by those opposed to the pres or in the opposing party. Nobody cares what our candidates look like to the supporters of w. or members of that party. Those indies who are watching though are the swingers. Many of them have respect for the sitting president whether they agree with him or not. They are the ones who it is important we not alienate by acting childish and refusing to acknowledge irrefutable bipartisan goals mentioned by the president in the SOTU. Obama and Hil did the right thing by acting like adults ...they will have plenty of time over the next several days and weeks to refute and admonish w. all they like without alienating the indies who, like it or not, are crucial in winning the general election.
